Morning all, wet and cold today, depressing weather. The chimney sweep was supposed to come a couple of days ago but didn't turn up, he is also a plumber and does chimney sweeping when he can fit you in!
We are still painting and moving furniture about, we need a big de-clutter and a trip to the tip.
I'm pleased to see you are going to get your other hip done @tui34 it certainly seems to make a difference whether it's anterior or posterior approach. Mine has taken a good seven months to properly heal. You may be surprised how quickly he can do it after you go to see him, i was asked to choose a date!!
Please take care all of you, and no falling over on the ice!

    Morning all.

Big frost here. Kitchen was only 14C, no radiator. I've put the electric heater on.

OH has been improving since he started the antibiotics but still has a chesty cough.

I need to go to the SM but there is a big lorry parked at the end of the drive. I haven't been outside yet.

Morning everybody. Horribly cold today, OH has just left to walk down to the paper shop but I don't have to go out till midday to the dentist and I'm hoping it will be a tad warmer by then, I hate cold weather!
Hurrah, the digger's been mended and the men are laying the hardcore down. They told us the tarmac will go down on Saturday but I'm a bit worried about the weather.
Looks like quite a few of us will be having new hips next year, my OH included. His left hip is rapidly getting more painful so that's not easy to deal with and he doesn't like taking painkillers.
My brother is still in hospital and back on antibiotics which is worrying. His discharge date was today but doubt it will happen.

Hope your OH continues to improve @Busy-Lizzie.

@Hostafan1, Are you trying to make us all jealous?  You picked the right time to go away, it's freezing here!

Hope we don't get snow down here @punkdoc, is Moira back home yet?

    Stay safe folks.

Morning all. We seem to be like the rest of you with a heavy frost, but also with a really biting easterly wind. Please be careful and dont slip over if outside we dont need broken bones added to the list of you waiting for hip operations.
Pleased to hear that you have managed to welcome a decent amount of rain @Pat E.
When are you due home @Hostafan1? You are going to find the temperatures here a bit of a shock I think.
Take care everyone and keep warm.

Morning all, occasional snowflakes here on Surrey/Sussex border.
Had a shocking letter this morning, a refund on my car insurance! Apparently in (unspecified) previous years I hadn't been offered the lowest price so they are offering a refund. Not a fortune at £31.28 but against a background of people seeing their premiums double or triple this year it was a surprise.
OH still testing positive for Covid so keeping myself amused by making jam with plums and cherry plums which have been clogging up the freezer. Also finished making 40 jars of quince jelly and a small batch of membrillo.

    RIP Shane MacGowan.

One of the best ever concerts I went to, was the Pogues at Rock City, Nottingham, on New Years Eve.
