An unexpected dry day,Ā I am now officially off the half plot.Ā Still lots to do, shed has settled in it's new spot so will need jacking up a bit, as the door is in danger of catching on the path,Ā so IĀ can't " re-load" it with shelving etc as I don't want to put too much weight into it until its done. Very minor in the grand scheme of things.Ā
Thanks for advice,/support as ever very helpful and uplifting.
Good news of the day, (although I am irritated it took me taking a French man with me to argue the case) my dud washing machine has been collected and I've been allowed to exchange it for a better model, I paid the difference happily, so all sorted. Seems here in rural France a male has more sway than a female, even though he only echoed my every word.Ā
Regards the scam, the credit card company are saying as I gave my thumbprint as an authorisation of the card payment, which I obviously thought (as it was in my Bookings.com inbox) was the legitimate demand for payment that they can't do anything. Bookings.com are blaming the hotel's computer system, and the hotel say they haven't received the money (obviously they haven't). BIG learning curve for me.Ā
More good news, ex is going away for two weeks to Marrakesh the day Charlie and I return from Croatia, so we get three weeks without him.
Spent the day making Halloween Cakes, I am always happy to be in my kitchen, and admire and appreciate greatly the work gone into that cake @Lizzie27.Ā
I've been doing cupcakes today, copying online designs and am very pleased with the results. I've got a very large 3 tier Halloween cake on the go too, hoping it will end up like the one on google.Ā
Its got a bit of a wow factor going on, but actually very simple.Ā

at least some good news on your front @D0rdogne_Damsel but I would pursue Booking.com. Meanwhile have a good time with your son.
Another rainy day I think, shame as we are going to Maastricht for OH specs (half the price there) but not a show stopper. Hopefully we will come back with a new pair of shoes for me and an order for the glasses. I have the radio on and all this sounds all so utterly trivial.Ā
Good morning allĀ āļøĀ Hope everyoneās had a restful Ā night. We have to be up early and firing on all cylinders ⦠the tree man should be here at 9am. Thankfully as itās half term there wonāt be all the parents cars performing chaotic manoeuvres as he is trying to park his shredder and truck etc.Ā We also need to get son off to work by 8:30 ⦠so I really had better get up ..,
Gardening in Central NorfolkĀ on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Morning all, sunshine and blue sky here which is very uplifting. Washing machine on and nephew is busy fitting the newel post. OH is fetching the paper and milk as we've run out.
Good news all round @D0rdogne_Damsel except for the credit card scam. I don't think the credit card company can wriggle out of that so I would keep on pestering them. Love the cakes.
That looks very drastic @Dovefromabove, but it's astonishing how quickly the trees grow back. It's fascinating to watch the tree surgeons at work though, I'm with Ergates on that.
Hope you get OH's new glasses sorted @coccinella and enjoy the trip to town.
I'm waiting for the S/M delivery and then I'm going to cook a Beef Bourguignon in advance of OH's friend's arrival tomorrow. It tastes better reheated and will keep in the oven if he's delayed on the journey from Essex.
