@Dovefromabove it's normal to have a delayed reaction to a bit of a trauma like yours. It plays in your head all the things that could have happened. Glad the car is OK.
Glad you are feeling a little better @Hostafan1. Seedlings are always uplifting, aren't they?
What a lucky escape @tui34! I hate being close to those machines that swing around: you are never sure they have seen you.
Planted the bulbs in a window of dry weather, as my back is giving me sharp reminders at the moment.
    My simpathies @Busy-Lizzie. Been there.

    Thank you @coccinella.

  • Morning all,

Thanks for support/advice/kind words. Very much appreciated.
Electrician has promised to come Friday, plumber asap (?) Kitchen fitter will definitely finish whilst I'm away next week.... Washing machine repair man has promised to phone today before noon with a rendezvous date, we'll see. At least moving forwards a little bit.

The bank, bookings.com and the hotel are all denying any responsibility for the fake link on the website and all refusing to reimburse me the 1200€. I have given up on getting it back, best to just write it off as experience than get myself upset and stressed over it. Very annoying though. There's been a lot about it in the UK press and everyone seems to be in the same boat as me.

On the countdown to my holiday now, and will have a think whilst away about how to deal with ex. I think a sit down chat with him, possibly with someone else to try and mediate might be the best thing. Just get some boundaries set up. Of course Charlie is in the middle of this and he finds it difficult to manage his dad too. Such a controller, wants to know everything that Charlie's doing, and at 16 Charlie doesn't want to be micromanaged like that. So difficult.

Anyway, good day to all, hope everyone is feeling better today. A friend said to me on Monday, remember everything is time limited, whatever is going on, it'll pass eventually. I hope so.

    Good morning all  :) ☕️

    @coccinella  🤗

We’ve had a lie-in … son came home about 8:30 last night in one of the work vehicles … he had sandwiches (freshly made wholemeal bread, cheese, ham and chutney) and sausage rolls, and went to bed. He’s still there.

A third party to bear witness/mediate is a very good idea @D0rdogne_Damsel … it should take any ‘sparring’ out of the situation and decisions can be written down. In my social work we would draw up Written Agreements which everyone present would sign. That may sound a bit formal but it does provide clarity. Have you someone in mind … a friend of mine is a Family counsellor/therapist  … it’s the sort of thing she would do.

Horrid about the fraud … my understanding is that is a police matter and should at least be reported to them.

@AuntyRach and @Bluejayway, surely a tumble dryer is better if you've got the room.
I understand where you're coming from @Lizzie27 , however when you have a dehumidifier already it makes sense to use it for everything.  We've never looked back since we bought our first one over 20 years ago :)
Edited to add: we regularly collect a litre a day and use it for house plant watering

Think we need a very big de-humidifier here in East Anglia … the atmosphere is almost 100% H2O 🙄

Well, the old stairs are out and we've discovered there's an enormous empty hole/gap which goes right to the back wall of the house. I had thought the back half of the house would rest on the upper level of the ground slope but it appears not. Hope all our floorboards are sound as there's at least a 2ft/3ft gap beneath them!
    • Sounds a good plan @D0rdogne_Damsel, mediation via a third party might well emphasize the seriousness of the situation you and Charlie find yourselves. Hope all your tradespeople will turn up soon so that the house will be more comfortable.

    Hi all

The rain has stopped at last, and no more flooding, so we can breath again. Now we have to dry out the summerhouse.

I have a new date for my 2nd. hip, November 2nd, although I have been warned that cancellation is a real possibility.

    Hope everything gets sorted, @D0rdogne_Damsel
