We didn't make the pub lunch as the car broke down on the outskirts of Bath. I declined to wait around two hours for the breakdown truck and abandoned OH in favour of shopping in town so caught the bus in. Annoyingly, I couldn't find new boots that I liked or fitted, in M & S, size 4 were too big and they didn't have any 3.5's in stock. Most of them were great big ugly clomping type of boots with big soles, just right for kicking hell out of someone or something but not for me.

    Obviously not my day!Ā

Ā To add insult to injuryĀ  I've just read that we're forecast horrible weather tomorrow so that's no gardening either.Ā  Sorry, I should be on the Curmudgeons thread!

    Happy Birthday @Busy-Lizzie
    Devon.
  • Happy Birthday @Busy-Lizzie.Ā
Rain is forecast for tomorrow so I have been gathering in various crops,Ā  like the late spuds and the pumpkins and butternut squash etc. IĀ  think the slugs and snails will be rampant if we do get rain.

How disappointing for you @Lizzie27, broken down car, no pub lunch and no boots. Gosh, you have small feet. I have big feet, size 7, wide fit, and I'm not tall, 5ft3.

Thank you all for your birthday wishes. I've had a lovely day.

We went to the Snape Maltings in Suffolk and had a good look round the art galleries, craft shops and things for home and garden. OH says I'm like a bloodhound sniffing out plants! I headed straight for the plant sales before I even knew there would be plants for sale and bought a plant! A stachys with purple flowers.

Then we went to Aldeburgh and had lunch. We had oysters and fried crab balls in lobster sauce,Ā then I had Crab Thermidor with salad and OH had seafood linguine. We looked around the town and the art galleries and walked on the promenade by the sea after lunch.

    I know Aldeburgh and SnapeĀ
Maltings well. We were there for a play and a concert back in August. I did eye the plants too, but no longer allowed šŸ˜” to take them back here.
Had a terrible night, just could not sleep. Went out for an early stroll in the mist and was rewarded with two kingfishers flashing that amazing electric blue. Sorry not in the picture.Ā

    Good morning all!

It's like that down here @coccinella except the mist has now lifted to a haze. Ā Not a drop of rain here, but heavy flooding just to the north of us.

I'm determined to keep relaxing today but sitting around, you notice the things that need doing and if I want this injection to work - best not to start with the secateurs.

Today's expression is: Ā Saint Lambert pluvieux, neuf jours dangereux!!

I hope everyone has an enjoyable Sunday.

    Good morning allĀ  :) ā˜•ļøĀ
    There’s a noisy green woodpecker outside.Ā
Glad you had a lovely day @Busy-Lizzie  😊
I too love Snape Maltings Ā and know it well … I lived not far away and went to my first ever grown-up concert by the Borodin String Quartet there when I was 15 … two years later I watched in horror from nearby heathland as the smoke rose … in the years following the rebuilding it’s played a big part in my life, from concerts and other events to exhibiting there. I met Benjamin Britten and Peter Pears and once fell asleep with my head on Imogen Holst’s shoulder … bless her, she didn’t mind 🤭. I love it … it’s one of my ā€˜special places’. About the only problem withĀ living here is that now it’s a long way to drive back after an evening concert at Snape. 😢

    Hi all

Dreary, damp day here, but plenty of rugby to look forward to.
Hope you are feeling more comfortable now, @tui34.

Yes, thanks. Ā @punkdoc. Ā Once the needle was extracted - it was fine! Ā Got to wait a month now to see if there is effect. Ā Fingers crossed!

    Morning all.

Belated Happy Birthday to @Busy-Lizzie šŸ’

Just completed an Autumn task of dismantling the small poly greenhouse. I usually do it end if September when any stormy weather forecast and Tues looks to be very wet and windy here.Ā

I’ve left one tomato plant outside to ripen what’s left, and my cuttings have gone to a sheltered corner. That was all that was left in there so job done.Ā

The birds (blue tits, robins, blackbirds) are extremely active and flitting around my big Ceanothus by the lounge patio door this last few days - has anyone else noticed similar?Ā

    Have a good Sunday all.Ā

My garden and I live in South Wales.Ā
