I’m going to be cutting back brambles in my sleep!
I’ve never known so many as this year! Ok, I have neglected the area behind the boundary conifers so it’s prob a couple of year’s growth but crumbs they are prolific! I don’t mind having a wild area there (geraniums, Pheasant Berry, grasses and some wild flowers) but just trying to keep in the kempt side of wild. I know they’ll grow back as I can’t dig up the roots but at least regular chopping will tame. Wondering whether to cover with cardboard to help stifle a bit??

It’s cloudy here but actually ideal for more energetic gardening/maintenance.

    Have a lovely Sunday all.

Good afternoon everyone,  I was in the middle of a pruning session when rain stopped play, and typically after a late lunch have not summoned the energy to get back into it.

    Good afternoon.
We have a mixture of sunshine and showers here today. We did manage to sit outside for our elevenses and it was very warm when the sun broke through the clouds.
I’ve done a little bit of pottering and OH has cleared the area where the acer had sat and rooted itself from the side of its pot and into the ground. It took quite a bit of work to get it out, but the area is now prepped up ready for the half standard rose we’ve ordered as a replacement.
It was sad to see the acer go, but it was too big (due to it rooting into the ground, of course) and too close to the house. The rose should be more manageable in its pot especially as I plan to buy some wheels to put the pot on so we can check for errant roots.

    Just a comment - don't think I should start a thread but
@punkdoc  - I'm not sure if we are going to get past the quarter finals UK AB OZ

    Evening all.
    Another 13 hour shift today.
We hit the tropical heights of 15.5C today.
Came home in the dark. Winter is coming.

@tui34, at the moment I don't think England will win a game, but I am always a glass half empty sort of guy.
How can you lie there and think of England

Morning everyone. Mild morning here, but still no rain 🤬. They keep predicting rain (between snow showers), but neither have appeared. Word is that the ski fields are not getting any and they are closing up for the season. Sad for those businesses.

    Good morning all 😊 ☕️ Hello @Pat E  😊
Blue skies again … the forecast says dry but cloudy today with a high of 20C. Currently 12C here in Norfolk.  The coffee-maker is still sound asleep … I might have to give him a nudge …

    Good morning everyone!

Drastic drop in temperature here.  Windy, but we are not in the path of the storms from Majorca which are now wending their way to the and Spanish/French and the French/Italian border area.  We seem to be in the lee of it.

It has dropped from 42°C last week  to a high of 22°C yesterday!!  That's a 20°C difference - amazing!  Yes, @Hostafan1  autumn is on its way - the evenings are closing in fast.
It's been such a cold winter for you @Pat E  seems amazing the ski fields are shutting up shop - tourism is so difficult these days.  I hope your son isn't too disappointed with the weather @Lizzie27 - there are plenty of things to see in Biarritz that don't include the beach.

Augustin is today's feast day.    Here is one for @punkdoc
Fine pluie à Saint Augustin, c'est comme s'il pleuvait du vin!!
(Glass half full - anyway, you never fill a wine glass to the top!!)

May you all be well.  May you all have a happy day.

    Morning all.
Sunny at the moment but temps have dropped. My laptop died last night so that's the third thing to go wrong within the week, the others being the TV and my recliner. Fortunately the laptop is still under guarantee so fingers crossed, although I've probably lost a lot of family history data.
Have a good Bank Holiday folks, whatever you're doing, we're having a quiet day in and probably gardening.
