Thank you for the warm welcome everyone! I was hoping you wouldn’t mind me just barging in, you all seem like lovely folk that are wonderful to have a good chat with. Oh don’t worry @Dovefromabove I can provide the cakes and sweet things, I’m actually planning on making an apple crumble tomorrow however I’ve realised I’ve forgotten the butter and custard so I must nip into the SM tomorrow to get some.

I hope everyone has a restful evening and a good nights sleep, thank you for having me!

    Hi all,
It didn't rain here today. First time since digger boy was here...what's that? 6, 8 weeks? The Met says same again tomorrow so I will dig out my 'little' mower and set to. She's a beast and will take down the longest of the lush grass better than the ride-on. I'm trying to make strings parallel on either side of my front lawn to cut off the stupid bits and because of all the slopes and angles it never looks quite right so I have a plan! I'm going to mow stripes with JD and put my strings at n lawnmower widths. Oh yes!
I managed to pot up 24 London pride for under the trees from a little handful that hardly left a gap. Free plants...can't be bad to that. 🤓
Another good day at chez PP. We're on a roll.

You don't ramble at all @AnniD. Your post had a calming effect even if I could feel the claws on my shoulder 🐈‍⬛. Enjoy your daughter tomorrow. Today. Going to put Melvin Bragg on, see if I can doze off.

I'll have some of those figs @Busy-Lizzie 😋

    Good morning all 😊 ☕️
me too @punkdoc@WonkyWomble keeps making me jealous telling us of her ripe fig breakfasts … we have none this year … the tree was neglected in the spring (as was most of the garden) and needed watering and it didn’t happen 🙄

That noisy green woodpecker is out there again 😊

Son had a good meeting with the consultant and the rest of the plastics team at the burns unit at Broomfield yesterday … they are so pleased with him … I’ve put more stuff here

    Morning all,
that's very handy @Busy-Lizzie. I don't like the grill in my double oven at all so hardly use it. I find it especially awkward now I've lost height as I have to reach up with both arms and it doesn't feel very safe. It was supposed to be the same model as our old one which only lasted 8 years but it's not.

Looks like it's going to be a beautiful sunny day and I'm looking forward to going out for lunch/shopping/garden centre visiting with my friend who's coming over to collect me later.

OH will enjoy the peace and quiet and lack of nagging!

    Morning all!
Good break @Busy-Lizzie. I love it when things like that happen.
@Lizzie27 I'm ordinary height at 5'4" and I never went near my built in double oven without burning either the tops of my hands or the underneath of my forearms! I hated it with a passion and it is now in tiny pieces somewhere. I have no idea what height would be ideal but small to middlin' definitely wasn't it.
Did a little bit of potting yesterday so I might do more today, or something else. Bright and sunny here for a very pleasant change!   B)

Good morning everyone which includes short people and black fig eaters!

Heard the sparrows fart this morning at 5am whilst listening to some guided meditation and the spin of the washing machine.  Up to do some ironing, breakfast and then the bike/run with the dog.

A trip to the plant nursery and I came away with a box full of winter vegetable seedlings which are now tucked up in their beds.  Quite a morning, but the pain was worth it.  All netted to keep away those birds and the pigeons who surveyed my every move.  The battle now is with the slugs and snails who are, even in this dry weather, quite persistent!

Cloudy with some spits this morning but the sun is peeing.  I hope it stays inside today and lets my plants settle in.  I got a bit impatient and couldn't wait until this evening to plant.

Try cutting up some ripe black figs @punkdoc and soaking them in a glass of white wine!  Not so bad for a bung hip doctor!!  I hope the other hip gets done fairly soon and all the pain will be over by Christmas.

Don't worry @Pat E in a couple of months it will be too hot.  It's easier to put on extra clothes in winter and drink hot drinks than it is to keep cool in the summer.  I expect you will be thinking about planting your summer vegetables pretty soon.

Today is the feast day of Saint Roch, the patron saint of this area.  There is a parade with horses and other equines which are blessed by the local priest in front of the church.  I sent a video last year.  I will try and send this year's one when it is published.
It's lovely for tourists and there are drinkies and nibbles in the Council Carpark afterwards.  The cafés and restaurants are full and it is generally a nice morning.  Glad it isn't too hot today for the procession.

So:  Après Saint Roch, aiguise ton soc!!

    Have a pleasant day everyone.
