SGL, its good to hear you are shaking off the covid and seeing the Poppets this weekend should make you smile. Perhaps, if you feel up to it and the weather is kind you could have a little walk to the duck pond. There may be some ducklings about.
Red maple - my weather sounds similar to yours. I was supposed to be playing Canasta today but if its raining I will pass on that - I do have a lot to do in the garden so I'll try dodging showers.
Eek Ante, I have just seen on the news about wild fires in Croatia and hope that you are unaffected by these. Take care in that extreme heat.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Good morning Busy. You sneaked in there. I am most impressed with the cost per head of your meal - that is an extremely good price and the food sounds delicious - with enough left over for tonight. What a bargain!

Good morning all. Not read back but hope all are well. Nanny duties for me today with Thomas then work later. Things seem to be calming down at last. Had such a busy week. Raining here but I know the garden needs it so no complaints from me.
Morning Debs - rain has stopped play in my garden today. Enjoy your time with young Thomas. I took advantage of a dry spell and dismantled the remaining part of the 'tree' which my Bestie gave me yesterday. I have all the bits so no more to collect. It was quite an interesting experience. The 'tree' had been made up of graduated logs, drilled with a large hole and then slotted onto what looked like a wooden broom handle. The base was a large piece of tree trunk into which the end of the broom handle had been securely fixed (that bit weighed a ton!!). I am sure that all my tiny creatures will enjoy colonising all these new additions to my woodpile.
Just had an email to say a hydrangea will be delivered today - between 12:08 and 13:08 - the minutes always make me smile.

Afternoon everyone. Had a brisk walk this morning, raining, but refreshing. Saw a squirrel in the garden and then disappeared. Resting now after todays duties. Rosie
Afternoon all. Can't believe it but it's actually raining here - hurrah. Only light rain but it looks set in for the afternoon and we've had a couple of very short but very heavy showers over the last couple of days so the ground is finally starting to loosen up and the grass is going green again.
Looking forward to my mens' semi-finals afternoon routine (been doing it for over 40 years - how sad....) - prawn & mayo sandwiches for lunch, a sweet treat mid-afternoon and a glass of Pimms. Used to do it with a bunch of mates gathered round the TV when we were all free and single. Now we live at least 75 miles apart in all directions - but we all still do it on our own.
SGL - onwards and upwards. It will take a while to get over the Covid bug but you'll get there - just be kind to yourself over the next few weeks.
LB - I'm waiting in for a delivery too. Some full size and very comfortable camping chairs which fold down to not much bigger than an umbrella and weigh about a kilo each. They will be better to use in our little camper than the ones we have which are a bit bulky. Space is at a premium in there!
Was hoping to go and watch OH playing in his mate's band tomorrow night. They're all guys of a certain age who haven't fully grown up😉 J was asked to substitute for the regular bass guitarist at short notice so he's been practising like crazy this last week. They were due to play at the Pin Mill Yacht Club where they have an annual regatta for historic vessels. Unfortunately a weather warning for strong winds means they've had to cancel for safety reasons. We're both rather disappointed. At least he hasn't thrown a rock star tantrum - yet...
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
PS @Busy-Lizzie - meant to ask which Indian restaurant you went to. OH and his ex-work colleagues try to meet up fairly regularly for an Indian and are always looking for places between Cambridge and Norwich.

It's Marti here which is a pain as I've got lots that I'd like to get on with outside. Main job is painting another trellis and fitting it to the fence. It should stabilise the fence panel that currently flaps to and fro in the wind. Plus I can try and get something to grow up it to brighten another bare patch. Not really a wet-weather job. It'll have to be an afternoon of hoping for a Djokovic loss but being sadly disappointed.
I've been cutting my own hair for decades @Busy-Lizzie, although my expectations are very low and requirements minimal
Afternoon all. I am totally zonked with relief that mum’s move to the care home has gone without a hitch. I've even spoken to her today! She sounds " normal" to me , interrupted her Friday lunch of fish and chips... which she has eaten. She hasn't been upset or cried and everyone apparently loves her. I am so so pleased. We are hoping to go and visit her next week when the car has been to the garage for some repairs. All my digits ( and more) are crossed that this works out successfully. She has even been doing some knitting.

I love your Wimbledon tradition @Topbird
