Not at all bad thanks @Pat E … I watered the garden and had a lazy day pottering, watching the tennis and knitting …,resting before a long drive today.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
My mindfulness homework includes starting a journal and the exercise this week is, in the morning, to jot down three things I arm grateful for. As this is my week off work plus fabulous weather, mine is quite easy. I’ve put things like ‘no alarm clock, sunny morning, bird song…’ We will discover next week what the point of this is.
Have been in Montpellier since Saturday helping a friend who has fractured his ankle Friday evening doing the "galipette" as they say in French. Putting out the rubbish and missing a couple of steps.
X-rays, pills and a moon-boot later, he is here with me at my home. I drove back from sunny Montpellier yesterday through a very violent storm on the autoroute with zero visibility, heavy rain which turned to hail. Quite frightening. We took refuge under a bridge until that bit passed. Back here - strong north dry winds and nary a drop of rain! 31°C expected this afternoon.
My neighbour watered my garden which was kind. Tomatoes need a tie up and the laterals pinched. Amazing the growth and development after just 5 days. I took the dog out (me on bike) at 7.20am - poor thing, she was one streamline shape (a Border) as she streaked across the fields!!
@AuntyRach Enjoy your mindfulness. It's very reposing and makes you realise and appreciate the good things in life.
I'm glad that Rob has almost found his independence @Dovefromabove Takes a strain off you and makes him feel human again. Good news.
@punkdoc - wasted energy when a woman has something in her head!! We are kind but stubborn!!
My knee, after a cortisone injection 3 weeks ago, feels much better. Could be the change in the weather (the north wind is dry) - it feels a bit tight after I have been walking around but otherwise I feel more positive about the pain.
So, I hope all with aches and pains and twinges, are feeling better too. Have an excellent afternoon and evening!
I hope our boiler is OK. Boiler man left the hot water on continuous and the heating off. I woke up feeling very hot in the night. The upstairs radiators that had been left with their thermostats on were warm and the airing cupboard with the hot water tank was very warm. I put the water on timed which switched it off, don't know what time it's set to. The rads cooled down. Weird, because the radiator main thermostat is set to 11C.
We are thinking of going to Peter Beales this afternoon. It's a lovely day and the roses should be looking beautiful.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
You are a very good friend @tui34 and glad your knee feels a bit better.
My back is still giving me gyp after vigorous gardening on Saturday. I can't stay in one position for too long - especially not at this computer. But I've done what I needed to do for a meeting this afternoon, so now for a stretch.
I have found that get relief from a sore back (only relief) is with my Swiss Ball. I lie on my back (on a mat) and put my legs up on the ball. Roll the ball gently left and right.
I got mine at Lidl for 8€ when they have those fitness specials.
Afternoon all, Got back late last night from a few days away in the New Forest. Hotel a bit of a disappointment but we were given two free bottles of a rather good prosecco for the first mix up and £100 refund after the second. Shan't be going back there though.
We visited Exbury Gardens which we thought would be nice and mostly shady. Enjoyed a ride on their minature steam railway first and then walked amongst the rhodos, some of which were still in bloom (pics on garden threat later). It was very, very hot. We saw quite a lot of lovely little foals in the Forest on the way back, busy being chivvied by their mothers to get off the road!
We came home via Bournemouth so we could pop in to see my son and the grandchildren. They are both deep into exams but didn't appear to be too stressed. Goodness knows why they have to hold them in the summer when's so hot, it's bonkers. I also took the opportunity of popping into a local hairdressers for a wash and blowdry as I hadn't been able to properly wash and dry my hair lately - can't get my arms high enough! Such a nuisance.
Hope Rob gets on ok at Broomfield @Dovefromabove and that your journey isn't too bad.
@tui34, good of you to go to your friend's rescue. Hope you enjoy having a guest.
Bad backs are the pits @didyw, hope yours clears up soon. I was supposed to see the osteopath this morning but forgot and will see him tomorrow instead.
Right my sitting down for an hour is over, now for an hour of light exercise. I might drag a rug out onto the back lawn and give it a good wash with OH's help.
Broomfield were pleased with him. Splint adjustments and measuring for compression sleeves plus lots of massaging. Another visit in 3 weeks. Home and a Chinese takeaway then he had a visitor. I’m bushed. Night night all 😴
