2 ripe figs that were hidden inside the tree. Runner beans, pears and tomatoes. There is a glut of apples, so lots being shared with neighbours and passers-by. Freezer is full.

And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils (roses). Taking a bit of liberty with Wordsworth
@scroggin We tried sweet corn for the first time in decades last year (badger problems). We ended up with "baby" corns. So have tried again this year and whilst you are at the end of your harvest ours are still pathetic. What is the secret?
@bertrand-mabel I'm no expert but I've found that they need lots of water, I don't do anything special with the soil, just dig in some home made compost and add chicken manure pellets and BFB at planting time. I give the plants a liquid feed once the cobs start forming. For me the biggest thing is water, I don't think you can over water to be honest. I grow Swift as it's been the most reliable for me. I live in the South East so generally get a long growing season, I make 2 sowings for succession around the mid and end of April in a cold gh, I plant out around the mid to the end of May.
Cobra were my favourite to start with, but the Lady Di have nudged up. We also had some Hunter (string less) which were lovely to eat, but so nice the slugs had to have a share. They also weren't as prolific as the other two, but that could have been their position. Now busy looking for garlic to plant in Oct/Nov.
Yorkshire, ex Italy and North East coast. Growing too old for it!
Picked these today, my better half will use them to make chilli jam. I've also grown some ghost chillies, these are turned into chilli sauce, a little goes a long way.
Rained all day yesterday so no picking done. Today picked these. Things are slowing now, not sure how much longer we will keep the greenhouse going, depends on the weather.
I must admit @scroggin I did go a bit OTT with the seeds, particularly with two varieties of tomatoes which were a first year from seed not plugs. Plus I'm terrible at giving up on plants, just because all of them germinated and I had more than I needed.😊 I did give some away, but still had six more than I needed in the greenhouse, so outside they went to sink or swim, and yes they knew the crawl😆, and have fruited very well, even in the odd weather and patches of neglect they suffered. I've picked over a thousand tomatoes, have 14 3lb bags of them in the freezer waiting for winter use, have a dozen two portions of soups made, and made a batch of tomato pickle. I will seriously have to contain myself next year when sowing seeds.🤣
