Oh no Punkdoc, I was admiring the one I saw yesterday and have had them in the garden very occaisonally, fortunately doing no damage. Really don't them to attack my roses!
All done and went well. Had a very tasty late lunch, and ready for another doze. Phew! Always so pleased to survive a general anaesthetic, the only bit that was actually worrying me! Glad that’s over, thanks for all the good wishes. Now the relaxing and recuperating bit. Interesting that the heated pad seems to have worked better than the morphine! Will have to buy a new one for home use, the last one gave up the ghost and leaked some sort of seeds all over the place!
Late on call today but will be busy over the next few days, too.
@Ergates .... phew!! So glad that you are feeling happy about everything.
A bit of venison on the BBQ may not go amiss @punkdoc Makes good pâté too!! Goes down a treat with a glass or two of a good red from the Languedoc area!!
I too, watched some of the Coronation but I got the impression that Charles was full of glee (like a child on Christmas morning) because he finally got what he'd longed for. To boot, he towed the love of his life into it all. Not everyone's cup of tea. Anyway, it is tradition and I like a good parade. I agree with you @didyw Difficult to see Camilla as Queen. I thought the Queen (ER11) named her Queen Consort for that very reason. To stop there!
Here is a little French humour for you: If you don't know; during Epiphany which is celebrated just after Christmas, the French eat a sweet pie called A Galette des Rois. Inside, there is a porcelain figurine hidden. The person who cracks his teeth on this figurine, is king for the day and gets to wear a golden crown!!
As you can imagine, this is just one of many "humouristic approaches" to the Coronation. The French call it Le Couronnement - The Crowning; which my mother always threatened us with if we didn't tow the line!!!
I hope I haven't offended anyone. Excuse me if I have. And @raisingirl Yes, glad there were no major mishaps on the day.
I hope you will all enjoy your evening - I can hear a little chilled rosé calling with a couple of olives à la catalane to go with it!!! Ahh! Summer daze!
Another busy day, but not quite as manic as yesterday. We did however, launch our new summer menu, designed to take some stress off the kitchen, lots of salads and cold sandwiches, including a new 'American Deli' section with bagels. All well received, and although we had a bit of humming and ahh- ing about how to present things, it went well.
Only kitchen photos for staff training purposes, but a little taster.

It has been wet again but fortunately dried up enough after lunch for me to do a volunteer Litter pick along our road as my contribution for today. Pleased I only collected less than half a bin bag. I also found this on the path which I think is from the nearby Wollemi Pine,, planted quite a few years ago. The tree looked stunning.

I am a great lover of Languedoc reds since Bordeaux became so expensive.
