France has had a system in place since June last year using moble phones to alert regions about dangers such as storms, flooding, violent winds, forest or scrub fires......... No idea whether it's universal or one has to sign up for it.

in the usa we got an alert on apr 5 because there was huge brush/wildfire less than 1/2 mile from my house. most normal countries have these type of alerts.

That can be very disconcerting and unsettling @war garden 572 .., we had a couple of wildfires not far from here last year … I hope none of your neighbours were hurt. .
