Who has the final say of what message we'll be getting? Will someone in the local council have the authority? Would it be the military? Could Putin or Xi infiltrate the mechanism? Could the system be sold for advertising? Will we be getting subliminal messages through the system?
I'm too busy to fret, got a wooden trough to line with polythene!
Yes, Russia or China or probably half your local senior school IT kids could hack it.
@wild edges.is correct. You can see how it’s already causing a mild panic, as someone in the government once said, the way to keep the masses under control is to keep then in a state of anxiety. Can’t remember who said that.
I apologise for starting this thread. I meant it as a reminder to those busy, non-panicking types who frequent this forum, who might have overlooked or forgotten it was going to happen.
Personally, I have a habit of forgetting things - but strangely, never a meal!!! Thus, it serves as a reminder to myself.
Sunday afternoon, I'll be in the garden, out for a countryside walk, or snoozing.
Presumably that means all those of us without mobile phones are considered to be "extra to requirements" ?.
"The UK has recorded 3,739 deaths caused by natural disasters since 2000. Research from Outforia found that of these fatalities around 3,626 were caused by extreme temperatures."
I assume we'll get emergency alerts telling us that it's a bit warm out but you'll have to make sure you keep a stock of icecreams just in case.
(I didn't fact check the above figures but given the lack of tidal waves and tornados around here they can't be far off)
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

I imagine they assume that when you see everyone running for the shelters that don't exist in the UK, you'll ask someone what's going on and find out that way

Well, my sister died last week - I guess that could be considered a "natural disaster" - from a personal point of view at least. Don't think she got a text message to warn her tho. I think I'll just rely on the local nuclear power station siren for anything too cataclysmic As for the stocking up on Ice Cream, a good point but you do realise that your mention on a Forum will now mean no ice cream will be available from tomorrow - either that or it will be rationed ( remember the Toilet Roll crisis )

But I doubt they're that bored.

😱DON'T PANIC😱 ?
Of course, Putin might send his missiles on Saturday, and the cost of arranging the test will have been a total waste of money.
At least meme makers are getting some mileage out of it.
