I didn't get the alert on my Samsung  which I was disappointed at but we don't get a good mobile signal here anyway so it might have been that. I've completed the survey so thanks for that link @wild edges.

Went online to BBC to find out why and apparently lots of people didn't receive it, you can play it back which I thought quite a feeble sound.

No we didn't either. Like you we have a poor signal here but I had 'Wi-Fi calling' switched on - still nothing.

Sorry to go off-topic but talking of 'Wi-Fi calling', I only found out this week that it still gets charged to my Pay-As-You-Go balance even though it's being routed through my BT router which is charged to my landline account and has all-inclusive calls. Can't win  :#

In the 51 years I have survived being on this plant, I have never once been anywhere or been in any situation where an emergency warning would have been necessary, and I can't think of any situation where I would need a warning on my phone. I turned the option off on my phone the other day.

My Work handset got the message, but my phone didn't even though they were less than 1m apart.
I wonder if the same folk behind the £83.000,000,000.00 track and trace fiasco were behind it?

    Were they on different networks?

Thought your mobile was an antique anyway? 😉

On the news they are saying a lot of people on the 3 network,  didn't get the alert, they don't know why.

  • @JennyJ - absolutely would want my parents to get a real alert - and will switch those alerts  back on tomorrow , I just didn't want them to be concerned over a test message.

Surely better for them to get the test so they know what it sounds like. Mum was expecting it anyway - she'd heard about it on the radio and on the TV news.

I was just watching the interrupted snooker on the news. They planned to pause play for the alert but phones kept going off at different times and preventing the restart. Interesting just to see the difference in alert timings and I wonder if this is a problem they will try to correct in case alerts are time critical?
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
