I think people are being too negative. The message said, that in the event of a real emergency, instructions would be given.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to send messages to old phones, it is no ones fault.

Our phones went off but the sound wasn't as jarring as I had anticipated. We both then cleared the message from our phones by tapping the " clear" message. It was fine. Nothing to worry about.

As we don’t live in a country which experiences extreme weather it seems a bit redundant. If I lived by a river and it rained constantly I would not need an alert to tell me it may flood. That’s why I would never live by water. It doesn’t worry me but I do wonder how much all this has cost? Maybe it’s a pet project of one of Rishi’s cronies

We do experience extreme weather, not as often as some other countries but they do occur.  Try telling the residents of Boscastle that they don't happen.  We are experiencing more of what would have been referred to as freak weather conditions, so any form of warning that can be given surely must be welcomed.  Where I live I'm not going to be affected by rivers overtopping, but back in 2007 such a system would have been welcome to advise people around here of the hell arriving with the Great Storm.

Weather extremes are also going to become far more common. Last year’s storms and fires, will likely become the norm.

Nothing from my phone or my dad's phone.

I hope there's nothing bad happening near by.

Maybe your world has already ended but nobody has told you.

Mine went off but my sisters brand new Samsung did not, not sure why, my alerts are now switched off.
Sorry I think it’s a waste of money, probably my money.

When my wife's phone stopped ringing, (she'd gone out and left it on the sofa), the message was still there.
Same with ours. Very straightforward … no problem reading and understanding the message after the sound stopped then swiped it away. 👍

Apparently we've got a ghost in our village, it's suppose to be the ghost of a monk who was tasked a few hundred years ago, during the night of a Spring tide, to wake everyone up should the River Nene flood. Unfortunately said ghost fell asleep and the village was flooded while the villagers slept. Since then the ghost of the monk has been troubled and daren't sleep just in case the Nene floods again. I think the poor monk has earned his RIP seeing we've now got our alert system in place  ;)

Loads of reports of it not working over various devices and networks, and reports of one phone in a house working while others didn't. Feedback form here if anyone wants to fill it in. It's only about three questions. https://surveys.publishing.service.gov.uk/s/A7XZXQ
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Thanks @wild edges, one of the questions mentions alerts for a missing child.... what a great idea!
