Jeez - the sooner Saturday is over and done with the better - whether it's money wasted, endless memorial tat. flag waving or soldiers prancing about it is 1 day ( tho the run up and no doubt the aftermath will continue for ever and a day if the media have their way ). A great excuse for street parties for those who feel inclined - nowt wrong with that but it isn't particularly inclusive.
A new king will not change much - he is still restrained by politics and can only advise/suggest -  much as the late Queen did. Some gentle prodding did seemingly get thru at times but not often enough.  Only very recently, Charles apparently wanted to attend the last Climate Conference ( ? ) but was "advised against attending" by politicians and did as he was told - no doubt the same restrictions  will continue.   Our politicians rule - the monarch doesn't.

So 28 out of 94 don’t want a coronation,  that’s not bad is it.
As a non tax payer I have no right to say where the money is spent.

I doubt if the Gardener's World Forum is a true reflection of national opinion, though.....
I doubt it really @WhiteRabbit. There  is still a lot of support for the Monarchy in the country.

if the old codgers on the forum  (apologies to the youthful members. this does not concern you)  can't summon up much enthusiasm, who can?

Not sure whether being 58 counts as an old codger.

It's all in the mind. I've known old codgers in their twenties.

Whereas it’s common knowledge that on this forum we’re all 27 years old … have been 27 for years, even my daughter @WonkyWomble and I are 27 👍 😉

Then I'm not an old codger - even though my wife might say so sometimes.
