lovely day here, managed a little bit outside, until decrepitude got the better of me. Am seeing the Orthopaedic surgeon tomorrow about my hips, but to be honest, i am not sure whether new hips would make that much difference to how much I can do.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
Hmmm @punkdoc ... you're beginning to sound a bit like my very stubborn Ma ... she refused hip ops because 'God wouldn't send her something she couldn't cope with' .... hurrumph ... by the time she found out that He undoubtedly would and did, the hips were too far gone to do anything about and she spent the last 10+ years of her life in a wheelchair and in a huge amount of pain.Ā
If you can get your hips done you jolly well get them done ... you may well not be able to do much more after the op, but you'll flippin well enjoy what you can do with new hips much more than you would have with your old ones. Do as you're told !

I knew an Orthopaedic surgeon who when people were wavering about whether to have new hips or not, used to drop his trousers and show them his hip op. Scars. Sadly nowadays, he would probably get the sack for that.

Ma said her doctor said that he couldn't advise herĀ ... I know and you know that he meant that she had to make up her own mind ... she took it to mean that he wouldn't advise her to have it done ... she was very intimidated by doctors, following a difficult time when her father was dying ... she knew he didn't want any more operations and said so ... the doctor accused her of killing her father ............ it was back in the late 40s.Ā

Late to task today!! Ā Still as they say ...better late.....
Seem to be doing lots but nothing - I think it's called faffing. Ā Still windy here with the sun trying to come out. Ā 18°C this afternoon, so can't complain. Ā This is my sort of temperature up until about 25°C is fine. Ā
Getting a load of hay in, is like stocking up the woodpile for the winter!! Ā @AnnaB Feels satisfying. Ā The bluebell area sounds lovely. Ā Nothing like that here except for some onion flowers. Ā Probably bluebells Ā in the country where it is cooler and there's more shade.
@Dovefromabove Ā Glad that sense of normality is returning. Ā What a drama! Ā It's been seven weeks of worry. Ā Ā @Pat E how nice to see your daughter and grandson. Ā Will they be staying long? Ā Ā @punkdoc Ā May as well get them done for pain's sake. Ā You know the story - so what are you waiting for? Ā It seems hip operations have come a long way since I had mine done (1) in 2017. Ā Book it!! Ā Hope the physio appointment does well for OH @Busy-Lizzie Ā
Your bluebell wood sounds lovely @AnnaB - any chance of a pic when they are flowering? Enjoy your time with your daughter and grandson @Pat EĀ Will there be cake? Glad things are getting back to a semblance of normality @Dovefromabove and you can enjoy your home baked bread again.Ā I miss bread. I'm not engaging with any talk about magnolias at the moment because I am sulking, having lost my young stellata to the drought.Ā My next door neighbour at our old house had a magnificent magnolia which half hung over our garden, and I had a very pretty little stellata in my garden.Ā Now I am completely devoid of magnolias and it saddens me.
@punkdoc get them done! I am much older than you although my consultant told me i am young! He said if i didn't i would be in so much pain i wouldn't want to get out of the chair.
I am in aches and pains this morning. Yesterday I dug a small 60x 40 hole for some daylilies that needed shifting. Groan, how things have gone downhill. @punkdoc do have it done. You will never go back to when you were 30, but if you can avoid some pain down the line surely it is worth it? Being in the "business" you will know the right questions to ask, plus they will have a certain respect for a colleague, they know not to bs.Ā
Today is going to be sunny too, but I will limit myself to hold the ladder for OH who is untangling the guy ropes of his radio antenna.Ā
Good morning everyone,Ā well we didn't have frost yesterday but we sure do today, everything was white out there first thing, it's lifting now.Ā IĀ hope the early blossom is OK.Ā I need to get back to plots today,Ā I will have to push through the aches & pains it needs doing now or I won't be ready when it's warm enough to plant.Ā Have a good day all.Ā
