Morning all. The sun is shining so hopefully a nice day. Lovely surprise yesterday as I spotted the first swallows returning. Two of them swooping over the yard and buildings. Several years ago when this barn was part of the stabling for my miniature horses we always had several families of swallows nesting in the indoor roofing beams. Luckily when doing the conversion we finally finished and closed the doors after they had all left and flown south for the winter. The following year we kept all doors and windows tightly shut for April and well into May to encourage them to find new nesting places. After a few false starts they transferred themselves to several of the new sheds erected by the new owners of the main farm house and peace was restored. Last year one pair managed to make a new nest in the one small old building next to our yard and I'm so hoping they will return this year. So - the swallows are back, it may still be a bit cold but summer is on the way folks!
Lovely to have swallows @AnnaB. We had them at my old French houss. They nested in the veranda outside the kitchen, but they made a dreadful mess on the floor. It was tiled though so not hard to clean.
BT Internet have turned up. They were due on Monday. There is a fault with the very ancient wiring in the sitting room and he doesn't like the old cable that goes through the middle of NDN's ivy covered tree. He'll come back on Monday for the outside cable. He'll re-route it onto the electricity post.
We are going to a country show today, when the Internet man has gone. There will be horses, sheep dogs etc. We went last year and enjoyed it. We'll take OH's buggy, it would be too much walking for him and it's somewhere to sit if they are short of chairs to watch the events.

Have a lovely day at the show @Busy-Lizzie .... I'm a bit slow at typing at the moment ... my lovely if 'slightly singed' (his description) son has given me a refurbished MacBook ... I used to use MacBooks some years ago but more recently have been using ordinary laptops, so it's making me a bit slower than my usual 70+ wpm ... you'll all have to bear with me ...

We have Internet! Man has just gone. It hasn't been so fast for years. He said our phone cables were probably installed in the 1950s. He hasn't changed the outside one yet.

Yep, swallows are back @AnnaB - ours appeared just before Easter and this morning we had the first one come into the house, so summer is definitely coming now. In the winter, we get a robin who pops in, pootles about eating any spiders who have become complacent about their untroubled indoor life, then bobs out again without any stress. The swallows come blasting in, panic, and can't seem to get out again. Not the brightest birds

Enjoying a shopping trip with Charlie, he's buying summer clothes, despite the rainy day. Lovely to spend time with him. We're both helping his friend do her history project at the same time, it's in English and we're helping with the grammar. 😅 I hope she gets good marks, or that'll be embarrassing. 🤭

Hi folks, Busy morning. Popped out to get wrapping paper for Jonah's present and a birthday cake. Secondborn came with the boys and after chocolate cake and presents we took the boys to a play barn. They had a lovely 2 hours burning off all the cake and then home for tea and some quiet time on their tablets. They haven't long left and I'm relaxing on the sofa while Hubby watches the football. A relaxing evening is planned.
