@CatDouch - I love my 'You're B' which is new to me this year. That cluster you have there is superb.
@purplerallim - interesting the notes you get from Blue Moon. I get more fruity notes of passionfruit but quite sweet, almost like parma violets.
Felicia:
Chandos with a better 2nd flush vs the first one...........
The vigour of this Champagne M just seems to almost defy nature. Constantly throwing up enormous new red canes, some that are as thick as my thumb. Must be over 6ft wide now:
Producing huge blooms that are the same size of my fist in this second flush..........
Jude the Obscure................
Lady of Shallot.............
Hamilton Princess. An equisite pink hybrid tea. Super intense fragrance.
Healthy Generous G in my local Garden Centre's sale - 50% off. I could have spent so much more money but I only bought two (Boscobel as well). They also sell Peter Beales' roses which were £10! I hadn't heard of any so didn't want to risk it.
They had a funny sign which would be perfect if they changed the word 'plants' to 'roses'......
My Twice in a Blue Moon and Blue Moon has been quite a tale @Alfie_ .
Winter before last I decided to get two Twice to go either side of my bay window .Come spring had flowers on, and I realised they were not the same. One smelt medicinal, the other old rose. Spoke to provider who sent two replacements as they were not happy with the look of the correct one, it subsequently died. Now I have three plants, so moved the Blue Moon into a pot. During the summer the moved rose out performed the ones in the ground, this year its the other way round. As for scent the BM is the same, but the TBM has changed to a tea scent. Go figure 🤔
Im so behind here, rather a washout of a summer so Ive not taken as many pictures or been out in it quite as much as usual, but lots of blooms out again so I will take some over the weekend. Planted a few of the nursery potted pile-of-shame, but more to do! Heres a few pics from this week; Penelope Lively - im very pleased with this actually... lovely scent, clean and weather resistant blooms and seems to repeat quickly already by the amount of buds its throwing up. Newbuds are almost red then open dark pink, then lighten to below. The blooms last well too. Chocolate ruffles.. just brought recently as I'm fascinated by these ruffles roses and ruffles queen is great. Fades to a rather neon orange though after a few days of the below, pics to follow, but interesting blooms!
I was really pleased this morning that I had enough roses in the garden to pick a bouquet to take up to my Mum's grave in Oxfordshire today. A mix of red Royal William (planted for my Dad) white Winchester Cathedral (my mum's rose, she was born there) and my new pink DA 'Elizabeth' (self-explanatory.
Heres a few from me today; Angel Eyes Brother Cadfael Penelope Lively, just opened Lady Marmalade Henri Matisse (mislabel, kindly now ID'd by Marlorena)
Posts
Gentle Hermione
Lady of Shalot, constantly blooming
Falstaff
Harlow Carr, also constant
And finally the Generous Gardener, who is flowering but the plant itself is not fit to be seen due to black spot and vine weevil damage
