Das Boot is looking fine @Nollie , we will all enjoy that bed filling with roses, it is really fun seeing projects through with photographic record. Mr Vine Eyes, Jessica and Owd Potter are great examples, as is Marlorena of course.
Biblical rain here yesterday, 39.6mm, took a lessening in the downpour to plant up the 3 Frilly Cuffs which had already been soaking for more than 24 hrs, I got soaked too. Great root systems but I didn't photograph. One only has 2 canes which is a shame but the canes are thick and thorny, I wasn't expecting that.
@Tack They do look thorny don't they, but you'll find the extension growth to be not as much, fortunately.. enough to notice though..
@rossdriscoll13 Oh thanks.. I notice they're also selling it under 'Sophie Rochas'. I do find this sort of thing a bit underhand. Harkness also selling as 'Sophie Rochas'..
I'll put that on HMF..
@Mr. Vine Eye I meant to say fabulous collage earlier, I missed it..
Hi @Marlorena...would this be the azalea feed which you've mentioned in previous posts as being suitable for roses. I've just bought it today in the hope it is. Thanks.
@peteS Yes it is, that's the one I like best for my conditions. It's the same as the old David Austin fertilizer until they switched to what seems like a Miracle Gro formula..
Dickson Roses have made their bareroot roses for the 23/24 planting season available, including the gorgeous-looking and apparently fragrant new A Fond Farewell to mark Colin Dickson's retirement this year.
Usha Ki Kiran (which sold out very quickly last year) is available again, too, in case you missed it @JessicaS 😉 I was looking at that but went for Mrs Muriel Reynolds and A Fond Farewell in the end.
Thanks all, I’m sure the boat form of the new bed (The Jolly Smudge, The Black Rose..?) will not be very noticeable once planted up, but does give more space to pass between it and the curved stone wall opposite. We inherited the victorian street lamps, Marlorena. A bit twee for my taste, but they are functioning garden lights.
Looking forward to your trio of Frilly Cuffs, Tack
I’m sure the king will be thrilled with that pink rose named in his honour. Not! Hate all that cynical obsequiousness 🤢

If it's good enough for you and David Austin, it's good enough for me. Cheers.
