Your Roald Dahl will be fine @Nollie, I was a bit disappointed with mine 1st year but it has got better and better and was magnificent this year, hundreds of blooms and a string sturdy well shaped plant to boot That is wonderful @Pete.8
@Alfie_ I have a Wollerton OH that has been in 3 years. It isn't in ideal conditions in a narrow strip between hardstanding with goodness knows what underneath and a monster hedge. It needed loads of watering the first year. It faces West . Nevertheless the hugely long canes are bent more than one and a half fence panel widths, it grows further into the pear on the right of this pic and Ghislaine de Feligonde on the left. The foliage doesnt provide a great deal of coverage but there are always blooms. Looking at the pic it looks like I need to feed, the new foliage is looking pale.
I remember that lovely photo of RD, I’m happy to let mine bulk up first @ "owd potter". It may be in too much shade against a north fence though, so I’ll monitor that and move it if necessary - if I can shift the pot!
Ah, wish I could send you some of mine WAMS. That Ben chap is always good for a laugh at. ETA, oh dear re floppiness of PL - you’d think 12 years in the making, they could’ve organised themselves to plant out a more mature specimen.
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
I was interested to see everyone’s view on the new DA rose. It does appeal to me a lot but I’m out of room, so I’ll have to live vicariously through those who have bought it. A shame if it is floppy, but I’m finding that’s the case with most of my DA roses until they get a bit older.
Most of my roses have gone over now so don’t have much to show unfortunately, but at least I’ve managed to feed them all.
The last of my Roald Dahl blooms have been looking decidedly more pink, which I haven’t experienced before.
Not my thing, but I imagine it will be popular if it has strong scent and is healthy. I like the colour palette - berry tones. Good for semi-shade and good for containers. It ticks a lot of boxes. I grow most of my roses vicariously too. Thanks for re-posting the pictures.
I'm so miffed that they are cancelling stalwarts like Munstead Wood, Jude the Obscure and Lady Emma Hamilton. Also that their customer interface is so abysmal. I'm stuck behind that particular tractor at the moment, swearing under my breath.

That is wonderful @Pete.8
And it seems the Penelope Lively rose may be a *bit* droopy after all (third pic)

Anyway there is a new Ben Hamilton unboxing video which I am sure you have watched fervidly...
Beautiful 'Garland' roses ^^..

Lots of lovely roses. Thoroughly enjoyed catchup of thread.
@Nollie, your comment on floppiness made me laugh. I think they are secretly setting up a business of plant support for roses!
Reposted with permission: photos taken by Mr Richard Dee of the new rose at the show today:
