    Thanks so much @WAMS!

    I am a complete newbie with roses, plus most of mine are DA, so please take my experience with a pinch of salt.  My worst this year for black spot has been Bridge of Sighs, my only non DA. My best so far are Desdemona, Roald Dahl and Eustacia Vye. Albrighton has a little, Emily Brontë is pretty healthy just had to take one leaf off and Wollerton has the odd leaf.

    @Cecelia-L I’m so tempted by GJ as she seems so highly rated, it’s just the thorns! She looks beautiful.
    Thanks, that's really helpful actually. And you need a GJ!

    Someone once said: “We can complain rose bushes have thorns, or thorny bushes have roses.”
    @agnasia

    personally thorny bushes have never bothered me much. Sure I get cut up occasionally if I am not wearing gloves, but thorns are part of the roses’ charms

    I used to know someone who whittled wooden spoons by hand, who said that being nicked and cut was expected and came with the territory. I feel the same about roses. They are definitely worth it despite the odd scratch.

    @Busy-Lizzie thank you, Megan is a Styles roses exclusive one, grown as a Standard. I do love my hulthemias!

    I love that Astronomia, such a pretty one with those pink stamens and blush centre.

    Ive got loads of Thorny ones. I get scratched and thorns in fingers constantly but goes with the hobby. I tend to wear gloves and have gauntlets for pruning as Albertine and a few others have wicked thorns and fight back!

    @ElbFee I did get a mild Tea scent.. nothing strong though.. will see how it goes with time.. even the first Elizabeth bloom is pretty much scent-less.. which did improve last year..

    That’s a good saying @Cecelia-L and appreciate that thorns go with the territory. I always have trouble with gloves, my hands are child size! I have found some that work for me but they’re more flexible than thick.

    @LateralBreaks @JessicaS I’m definitely getting more used to thorns, Bridge of Sighs is the thorniest rose I have. I’m more bothered about the kids than myself, but it’s all been ok so far as it’s tucked in a corner. I think positioning/location is also important.
