Maybe I am too cynical but the collapse may not have been an accident. Not the first time that an unscrupulous developer has such an "accident" as a way round planning restrictions on listed properties. There are sadly too few examples like the pub that now has to be rebuilt after the developers illegaly demolished it.
Well here we are in Snettisham it's drier here than at home. Interesting that so many of us know/ knew the Croydon area. @AnnaB Len retired to a bungalow in West Wickham, and then later down to Devon. Jack Lane refused to sell for many years, I assume his place went after he did , but I haven't been down that way for over 25 years, so I probably wouldn't recognise it if I did.
Evening all, such a lot going on! I must have missed Dove's post about her son being at home, that's brilliant news, if a little daunting.
I don't even know what that is @Hostafan1 but I expect it will be very tasty. Three year olds are just the right age to enjoy birthdays and especially visits to the National History Museum.
Interesting news @punkdoc, I'd be very inclined to break open a bottle of bubbly tonight!
I've had a very lazy day following a back and shoulder massage prior to the steroid injection in my shoulder tomorrow. I had strict instructions not to do any gardening or housework so have followed that to the letter! Actually I did put some washing on when we got back but that probably didn't count and the machine obeyed my orders this time. We also took 3 bags of stuff to the charity shop and handed in a bag of old clean towels to the local vets. I'm trying to gradually get rid of 'stuff'. Fancy cocktails glasses are the next to go when I've got the energy/time to wrap them up. Means getting the stepladder out as I can't reach the cupboard. We haven't had cocktail parties for at least 20 odd years so I won't miss them.
I also had a Croydon connection slightly as my son bought a flat nearby in Norwood before he got married. I think that was the first time ever I drove on the M25 - I was terrified!
@punkdoc, enjoy feeling smug, he certainly deserves a bit of bad luck.
I've had a very bizarre, but extremely heart warming encounter with (everything crossed) my new neighbour today. What a delightful chap, a Parisian, who a year ago bought a wreck of a house and has singlehandedly renovated it. It's still not finished, but wow, what skill, what imagination, and what attention to detail. His enthusiasm and kindness towards me was certainly heartwarming, and the idea that we could soon become neighbours is so welcome. I felt that no matter what crisis or mini crisis I might encounter, he'd be there to aid me, and if nothing else someone to share an early evening apéro with after a hard day at work. I sincerely hope that the bank gets their act together tomorrow, so I can move forward, create my own little safe space, have a little project away from CdeG and just find some time to relax and enjoy life a little. Fingers, toes and everything crossed.
Of course, I'm on a high today, but tomorrow could equally be in the depths of despair, thank goodness for all you forkers for being there offering wise words and support and encouragement.
A good evening to all. 😘😘

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

Lovely to read back on all your chatter.
