Good morning everyone and good afternoon Pat. Lovely crocuses. I have some purple ones in my garden at the moment.
My nice mechanic, Loic, replaced the cam belt yesterday. Although a hefty bill, it was very reasonable. On arriving at his garage, there was a queue of cars for diesel (he had no petrol delivery only diesel).....again due to strikes there is no fuel for important workers such as medical staff, care givers etc. People scare easily and fill up in case. Paris is smelly and rat infested. Services here are normal. The retirement reforms are not well received!! It's a mess.
Overcast here and I had much pain in my hips and base of my back last night at floor ballet exercises. I know the "rondes de jambes" are good for my hips, but .......! Hope it's just this damp weather.
Maybe a little more digging the vegetable plot over or a quick dash to Lidl. Need some seed raising mix. I need to sow some more tomato plants - ran into a spot of bother with my February sowings - they are struggling - I think I "overcooked" them in the conservatory!! The peppers revelled in the heat!
You should be all right @D0rdogne_Damsel with at least one banker on your side. Yes, it is a difficult business these days and reputations only last so long. Better to pay a little more income tax and have a stash for a rainy day than scrimp so as not to pay tax.
@coccinella I hope your N. Ireland break is relaxing.
And to the rest of you lot, have an interesting day!!
Wet and windy here, but signs of Spring all around. Lots of seedlings in the g/h, which is very cheering. I have commandeered the kitchen foe another morning of sowing.

Good afternoon everyone, very mixed here weather-wise. Sun, showers and high winds. We wanted to go to Felbrigg Hall but the house itself is not open so just went for a blow (walk) on the coast. PD I sowed a lot of seeds on Monday before we came, hoping that they are safe in the greenhouse while we are away. Great to hear of progress at long last @D0rdogne_Damsel.
I spent 1 1/2 hours this morning, when we had some sun, weeding and planting. Then we went to do the weekly shop just as showers started. Now it's grey and windy.
I hope @Allotment Boy is enjoying Norfolk, despite the weather. The wind from the north sea can be very strong, no hills in the way. We are in South Norfolk so not that near where he has gone.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Afternoon all, woke up to brilliant sunshine so had breakfast early (for us) as I wanted to get out and dig up some ferns for my sister. Got all togged up, turned round to look out the front windows and it was raining hard. Took all the gardening gear off, turned round and the rain had stopped so got togged up again. Managed to dig up all 5 ferns which had been heeled in over the winter in OH's veggie beds. They actually came up quite easily but were very big so I hacked them in half and cut the fronds off for easier transportation.
I didn't want to overdo it following the steroid injection yesterday so reluctantly called it a day. It's been hammering down ever since so I had a lucky window of opportunity.
Hope Dove is coping ok nursing her son and is not getting too tired. It's a big responsibility.
We enjoyed Felbrigg Hall when we were in Norfolk last year despite having to do unplanned 40 mile detour to get there because of a road closure. I brought 3 lovely rusted trellis screens there, ideal for propping up straggly perennials.
@punkdoc I was wondering what a steroid injection actually does and whether/how it just stays where it is injected? I forgot to ask the GP how long it takes to kick in and if I should be careful so would be grateful for any comments if you have the time/inclination!! Good luck with the seed sowing.
Steroids are powerfully anti-inflammatory and it is the inflammation which causes the pain. Should start to work in 72-96 hours. They will eventually be absorbed from the joint, but the time they are in there allows a reasonably prolonged effect.
Hope that is of some use.

Good news on the cam belt repair @Tui.
