Thank goodness for that @D0rdogne_Damsel, let's hope he does move fast and it gets all the okays you need. We were in a similar situation with this house and the vendor was threatening to pull out. I took her round a large bouquet and pleaded on the doorstep for just one more week. It worked but was a close run thing, my nerves were shot to pieces! We were half a million in debt at that point.

I'm pleased to report my steroid shoulder injection was pretty painless this morning although it's beginning to ache a bit now. My friend came round to borrow our shower whilst we were out and stayed for lunch so I haven't done much today. Managed to offload 8 cocktail glasses, a glassful of the fancy glass twizzlers, paper umbrellas and 2 cocktail books onto her so now have more room in our glasses cupboard. Hurray!

Hope you enjoy your Dublin/Belfast trip @coccinella.

Night, night @Hostafan1. 'See' you tomorrow.

I bet Rob is enjoying his mum's home cooking.

Shame about the car @didyw, did the garage give you a quote for the clutch replacement?  I'd be inclined to go for that, it sounds positively unnerving to be in traffic.

Maybe I am too cynical but the collapse may not have been an accident. Not the first time that an unscrupulous developer has such an "accident" as a way round planning restrictions on listed properties. There are sadly too few examples like the pub that now has to be rebuilt after the developers illegaly demolished it.
In the case of a barn though, planning is very often dependent on the building being structurally sound. If it's not (clearly), it can't be rebuilt or replaced without a new planning permission, which may not be forthcoming, depending where it is.

Great news that Dove's son is out of hospital - hope it's going OK.

Sounds like you're all doing OK, by and large  :)

My car had it's service, all was OK.

NDN didn't come home, needed more assessing about whether she can manage.

I feel I've been quite busy but I didn't plant my plants and I'm not sure what I've been busy at. Yesterday I made a savoury cake for OH with cheese, walnuts and olives in it. He liked it better than sweet cakes.

    Evening.

Bossed the weather today as washing out at 9 then cleared the bit of my garden by the back gate, (pots, sticks, watering cans, wheelbarrows and random bits) giving the paving stones a scrub to lift the grime and moss. Rain arrived at 2pm once all the washing was in and tools put away, and then it was time for a cheeky nap. Just making a roast dinner, but with sausages, as we didn’t have one on Sunday.

I hope @Dovefromabove’s son is comfortable and progressing well, fuelled by his family’s love and home cooking.

Sounding positive @D0rdogne_Damsel - I so hope it all comes together for you. You are such a hard working person - you deserve some luck.

@Busy-Lizzie - that’s like me - busy, but what did I actually do??

Take care those travelling, feeling sore, feeling tired or just plodding on.

Excellent news @D0rdogne_Damsel, lets hope you get full approval quickly and can go steaming ahead with all your plans.
Welcome home @Hostafan1, little ones can be so very tiring and enjoyable at the same time, plus you have had a long journey both ways.
You really need some help getting your car sorted @didyw, not good for your nerves to be driving like that. Well done to @Busy-Lizzie for a new MOT for her car, I hope your NDN will be able to come home soon, Does she have any help via her family?
Wishing Rob good luck with his hospital appointment tomorrow @Dovefromabove.
We are back to pouring rain and storm force winds tonight after another day of calm and glimpses of sunshine. This weather is really peculiar.

Hi everyone,  it stayed dry all day though clouds were threatening at several points. We went to a water Gardens past King's Lynn and this eve to the Rose &Crown  for dinner.  The stars are out now so hoping to see the space station at 8:50 later.

  • Thanks all for good wishes and kind words. I still won't believe it until I have keys in hand, but am much more hopeful now than previously. The bank say being a restauranteur is not seen as a safe trade to be in at the moment, staff shortages, food shortages, cost of living crisis etc. The maths adds up though, but there may well yet be resistance higher up. However, after 5 years my records speak volumes, last year I literally doubled my turnover, and am continuing to do so 2 months into the new financial year, my bank manager knows this, he's going to make a case for me. He says stay positive, and he'll do everything to make it happen. The maths was a big deal though, so 1st hurdle overcome. Fingers crossed - still. Very much hoping to make better acquaintance with new neighbour. 😅😋

I have had a similar experience to @didyw with my new car, it has some kind of automatic anti -stall capacity, which involves it switching off and then back on again, always in low gears. The mechanic says it doesn't work well if the engine is not warmed up. A bit scary when you nip out of a junction and it has no oomph.... Similarly on a roundabout. I've just been really pushing down on the gas to overcome it, but I'm definitely not a fan of handing over control to a computer.

Bought myself a tool box today, full of 'stuff' in anticipation of living alone.... Google may well be required to explain what all the 'tools' do. They are all a very pretty pink colour. 😅

    Evening all,
Glad things went well for you @D0rdogne_Damsel I'll keep my fingers crossed that things continue to go your way.
Grandchildren can be exhausting @Hostafan1 so glad you had a good time.
Great to hear that Rob is home @Dovefromabove you must be so relieved.
Been doing a bit of running around today.  Have taken Hubby to the podiatrist and then to the barbers for a haircut and shave.  Bestie came round for a cuppa and a chat and then late this afternoon a local handyman came to put up my blinds in the bathroom, lower the mirror and fix a new soap dish to the wall.  Sitting down with my feet up now while Hubby relaxes in the bath.  Must check the weather for tomorrow.  I have art in the morning but with a bit of luck I might get in the garden tomorrow afternoon.
