@Dovefromabove it's good to hear that the news is positive. I don't know if he is still heavily sedated at times, or may be in the future, due to procedures he will need. If he is, you are probably already aware that people in that situation are often aware of what is happening around them but can't react or respond. Many decades ago now my brother was in an induced coma for several weeks and later confirmed that he was, at times, aware. Simply talking to somebody who seems not be aware, can be a comfort to them, and to you. Fingers and everything crossed for a good recovery.
Yes, he is aware of what's going on around him when the sedation is lightened (now it's mainly just being increased for painful or confusing procedures) and he responds to my voice when I talk to him ... we read him cards and messages from friends, and he follows the instructions of the physio when she does therapy to help clear his lungs. It's going to be a long road for him ... but we'll get him there ... apart from anything else @WonkyWomble 's amazing mother in law has the entire Ipswich contingent of Pentecostalists praying for him at the top of their list, and it's a well known fact that she has God Himself on Speed-dial 👍

I’ve just spoken to the nurse and physio looking after Rob. Nurse says he had a settled night … still plugged in to all the machines that are helping him of course, but he’s doing fine.
Sarah the physio said that yesterday when she had him sitting on the edge of the bed he was quite alert, following instructions etc, and he even laughed at his own attempts to do as he was told!

@Dovefromabove Bit late doing this but I have just caught up with it. I have donated to the fund, but wanted to say I have a Kimbara ( a real Japanese made one) Acoustic guitar which I would be delighted for him to have if it is of any use. I can't play (long story) so it's just gathering dust. When things settle down a bit more we could arrange something as you know we have friends that live in Snettisham so we come in your direction from time to time.
That is so kind of you @Allotment Boy … the guitars he has lost are a special USA Martin acoustic he’d set his heart on and had saved up for … and a very special early 1960’s American original electric … a real collector/player’s instrument that was an incredibly kind gift from a dear musician friend who is getting on a bit and doesn’t play professionally any more. He’s also lost amps and pedals and all sorts of equipment.
I’ll certainly let him know about your very kind offer … I’ve a feeling it wouldn’t be the right instrument for him … but what do I know? It may be just the thing. We just need to keep our fingers very crossed that his hands will be ok 🤞 Thank you 🙏

Glad to hear the latest news @Dovefromabove & @WonkyWomble (I didn't know you were related). Has Rob got a music player in with him? Is there any music he'd like that you haven't got?
