I was so sorry to read of this. What a truly dreadful thing to have happened. I am sending you both @Dovefromabove and @WonkyWomble, my very best wishes along with a donation. I hope your son will make good progress in his recovery.
I've just read today's update on the Go Fund Me donation page. It's very moving in many respects. The messages of support are lovely. I hope Phil's target is met.
Thank you all … we’re back from the hospital and OH is sorting supper … This is an update that I’m putting on our little Friends & Family WhatsApp Group.
“ His nurse says he’s doing well and they’re pleased with him. Still a very long way to go but he’s good so far. The nurse was a senior and he had a student with him so it was fascinating to hear him explain what he was doing and why. How it’s not just the treatment of the burns but putting right the imbalances in how all his organs are working and getting his body back into synchronicity again … he explained that severe burns cause such shock to how the body works, and then one organ produces too much of this and another produces not enough of that, so they’re gently tweaking everything to keep him stable until his organs recover. That place is amazing. No one could have better care. I told him how so many people are sending him love and well wishes … he opened his eyes wide in surprise. He does find concentrating very tiring so I would just say a few things and then let him rest and then say a few more. The nurses were getting ready to change his position so I told him I was going … I said ‘I know you can’t kiss me goodbye so stick your tongue out at me’ … and he did! Tomorrow they’ll be giving him a shower in the special shower bed, and the plastic surgeons will have a good look at his wounds to see what needs doing next.”

I've just sent a donation, wishing him and Dove well during his recovery.
I've had lots of help from people on here, completely free of charge, so making a donation to help the family of a forum member goes some way towards returning the favour.
I'm sure that none of us would expect it but I'm so pleased you can share his recovery with us Dove. It's heart warming hearing of the care he's getting.
I was in hospital yesterday for an unpleasant, minor but necessary exam. Which reminded me about this discussion. Just sent my donation and best wishes for Dove's son's recovery and re-construction of his life.❤️
