It may seem an odd RTBC but the Consultant has told my wife that she will not be fit to fly at the end of September.  Previously he'd just been saying it was unlikely.  The new decision takes all the pressure off my wife that she would have been feeling due to concerns about letting me down by not getting on holiday.  I couldn't give a stuff about the holiday, I just care about her recovering irrespective of the timescales.
Without that statement I could have told I didn't care about the holiday until I was blue in the face but she would still have worried.  Even with this news she's probably still blaming herself.

I can understand the feeling that your wife might have, in blaming herself. We've had to cancel several holidays due to my health - or rather, lack of it.
We had a holiday booked in the Isles of Scilly this year, in the best place we know and love, but in January, had to cancel. Yes @KT53 I feel responsible, even though it's not my fault. If your wife blames herself, all you can do is support her - which it sounds as though you are indeed doing. I wish you success in that. It's not easy at all.
Meanwhile, here's a couple of photos from our holiday in the same place last year - and I'm so glad we took the opportunity, even though it was shorter than we'd hoped.

    Same here, KT53, or nearly.

My wife’s consultation yesterday about her breast cancer gave a prognosis that was not as bad as we feared, but still bad because it has spread to the spine. I am reasonably sure that the oncologist will tell us to postpone or cancel our holiday to Venice at the end of September.

It takes pressure off when they make the decision.

What really peeves my wife about the whole situation, broken leg onwards, is that she didn't want to go in the first place.  She only went because her sister said she wanted to go.

@BenCotto, so sorry to hear your wife's prognosis, even if rather expected. It might still be horribly hot in Venice in September for all we know. Northumberland can be beautiful in early autumn. We don't travel abroad any more - can't stand the queues in airports but are thoroughly enjoying short breaks in parts of the UK that are unfamiliar to us.

MY RTBC today, my mystery back pain's been identified (not as bad as feared) and can be treated. I've had brilliant treatment from our GP and local hospital and staff have been exceptionally kind. I've seen more doctors in the last two/three weeks than I have in the past ten years or so.

Me too @BenCotto.  All the best to you and your better half.  Agree with @Lizzie27 about there being plenty to see and do nearer to home and with less forward planning.

Good news @Lizzie27.   Hope you'll be feeling comfier soon.

MY RTBC?   Two sessions of physio this week with replacements as my chap is away on hols.  Hard work and lots of homework.   Three sessions booked next week plus a visit to the surgeon for a check up.   Some niggles but when was re-education ever smooth? On course to return to dance class end of September.

Thank you for your kind words, everyone. The consensus from today’s MDT meeting is that this is a recurrence of the 2010 breast cancer #2 which has metastasised into the spine. The oncologist hopes that it can be controlled, though not eradicated, by modern hormone therapy. We pray and hope.

I was on the phone with a friend earlier when there was a hoot and a gasp and some mumbling...call you back.
    Ok. 🤷‍♀️
Two minutes later he came back very pleased with himself having photographed a small blue butterfly. He'd never seen one before.
He emailed the pic and it is indeed a small blue and very pretty.

That type of treatment has certainly given my brother extra years and a better quality of life than otherwise @BenCotto … hopefully it will be as successful for your wife.
