  • The first time we lost ours, I spent ages aerating the lawn with the garden fork, making holes at about 45 degrees. I'd said to my wife it'll be easy to find, since I knew the approximate location.
    Ha!!

The cap for our socket is black, which isn't terribly helpful - and there's no way of attaching it to the socket.  Yesterday morning I found it had been Moved.  I suspect the resident magpies were investigating... it'll probably end up in next year's nest...

My new B&D sooper dooper workmate is coming on Friday. I CAN'T WAIT!!!
I received a Bosch PWB 600 for my birthday and used it for the first time last week. It fell over under the weight of a wooden door and it's little feeble aluminium legs bent, creased and cracked. Over £100 good for nothing. Rang Bosch about replacement parts and Bosch said no so I sent them an exploded diagram for a B&D workmate.

They're not speaking to me now! 🤣

We have a plastic cap that came as the central part of our patio table.
"It'll fit the hole nicely, and prevent water getting in" I said.
    BUT IT'S GREEN!!

That would probably be about as useful as garden hand tools with a flower pattern on them :D

Better to have flowery handles, however aesthetically suspect than wooden or green handled camouflage tools that get lost until you  buy a replacement. I reckon it's an evil marketing ploy by garden tool manufacturers to sell more tools. Bright orange glow in the dark tools have to be  more eco friendly than buy once, - buy often tools with natural wooden handles.
Actually, wooden handles with dayglow paint would suit everyone apart from the manufacturers

When I was working as a gardener I painted the handles of all my hand tools with red acrylic paint.  Worked a treat.

    Good idea.
The only way I'm going to find my favourite weeder is the buy another one. I've looked in all of the obvious places so it's somewhere stupid.

I have three or four of those little hook-shaped weeding knives. At least one is resident in the compost bin at any given time.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
