Good afternoon all. Had a nice day with Bestie and her daughter and got the hair sorted out. Coming home was a PITA because the dreaded roadworks (for which I am convinced I am a magnet) have struck along nearly every road I had to drive along. Vinny the car does not like being in first gear!
Well Hazel you did suspect that your OH would be generous with his germs. I reckon T'Bird's suggestion of hot toddies is brilliant - why can't we get those prescribed on the National Health??
Gosh Yvie, that is good news. Getting the conservatory roof done so quickly is such a bonus. Hope all goes smoothly then.
Yes, Red maple, you have summed it up nicely. I still think I can do all of these mad things but luckily before I did end up squashed I realised I couldn't do it and was able to push the TV unit back up onto the landing before gravity was able to take over.
Rosie, glad that you had a nice walk today and Busy, well done for thinking of tackling the 5 mile walk tomorrow. I do hope it is all on the flat for you and that your knee doesn't protest too much.

That's great about the conservatory roof @Yviestevie. I hope it goes well.

@Topbird we like Lucy W too. She makes history come alive.

We went to a GC today and I bought four little pots of snowdrops that were reduced if you bought 2 pots together. Had a good mooch about.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

That sounds a real bargain Busy. I love snowdrops.

Thanks Top,bird. I can see the attraction to translating that writing, I immediately get lost when I see an "f" for our " s" and the different spelling of some words. Plus the style of writing and I'm a gonna for reading it. But, I can see how it would evoke an interest for some to translate it and the satisfaction afterwards must be very rewarding. Enjoy! LW latest series is fascinating but horrible when she describes what happened to  women ( who were classed as healers and otherwise) who the authorities of the day decided were witches, it's horrendous and cruel and down right barbaric.Poor soul. I see there are plans afoot to try and secure a Royal Pardon for those women.

Busy, lucky you getting some snowdrops. I noticed today that one teeny weeny snowdrop bud has appeared on one little bunch but in the main, they are no more than leaves popping up through the soil.
LB, sounds like you had a great day with bestie, you'll feel more like yourself with your hair done too.I wonder why we get so many roadworks etc at this time of year? I would have assumed it was totally inappropriate / a waste of time given the weather🤔🤔 I may overdose on  hot toddies if we had the right ingredients in the house😂😂 but it would be enjoyable!🤭😲😂

Evening folks,  LB, you asked about my paintings, just to let you know that I have posted a few on the Gardening Crafters thread.

I will have to take a look at the LW programmes.
Hazel, I was told that Councils have to use up all of the money allowance for road maintenance before the end of the financial year as if there is any 'surplus' then the following years allowance will be reduced accordingly. Its a bit like what used to happen at school. I had to bid for the money needed by my science department and make sure it was all spent within the year. My Lab Technician was a genius and could estimate almost to the penny how much was needed. We had many consumables in the form of various chemicals - solids, liquids and gases so we were heavily subsidised. We never had any money left over!

    Morning all,

The curse of the CA strikes again!

More time spent outside yesterday. After putting the first coat of paint on the table, I found the perfect piece of wood to fettle some repairs on the shed. The bit above the door has become rotten so I've reinforced it. Hopefully, it will slow the decline and stop the rain getting in, as it has started to do. I knew there was a good reason for keeping the rabbit hutch ;)

Having pruned the old growth on the loganberries the other day, I've 'trained' what's left. They took over the raised bed last year so, fingers crossed, they are more tidy this summer. There ought to be plenty of room to get some other stuff in and around them.

Will try and get a couple more hours kip in bed before getting the paint brush back out!

Good morning Biglad and all to follow.

I arrived home at 9pm last night and went straight to bed. It was very busy day. Guess what, it's snowing again. 😣 Luckily, my bird feed delivery came yesterday, because I think today nothing will be delivered.
I have half hour more to stay at home, then must go. My garage lock got stuck yesterday, and now I can get in only thru the window. My friend will come to see if he can do anything, but later this afternoon. My car was outside, so I can use it.

Wish you all nice and warm day. See you later.
