    Morning all,

If today is any guide, 2023 will be the Year of Marti - it's cheerfully bouncing down again.

I went to bed after MotD and read the new Jack Reacher for a bit. It sounded like folk were managing to light their fireworks out in the wet. That was the extent of my rock n' roll celebrations :D

I've weighed myself this morning and resolved that will be the heaviest I'll be in 2023. We shall see...

My thanks go to @Ladybird4 as well. You're the driving force of this safe haven. Long may it continue.

If our currency were ever to change, I think there would be uproar. It must be a bit discombobulating for you, @Ante1

    Happy New Year everyone!

Started watching the Hootenany last night and the second act was The Real Thing doing some dirge called Ghetto Child or something. It was so depressing we turned off and went to bed!

OH has been washing the cars this morning as they are both filthy and it's quite a pleasant day out there.

Hope you all have a good day and I'd also like to say a big Thank You to LB for providing us all with a safe and comfortable place to support one another.

Good morning all and Happy New Year.
We saw in the New Year with our neighbours which was very nice, but weren’t out long after midnight.
It’s a mixture of sunshine and showers here this morning, and I suspect that’s the pattern for the rest of the day. At least there’s some sunshine to see, the last few days have been so grey.
A quiet day for us today. OH has a bit of an upset tummy, not sure what has brought that on, certainly not excessive drinking last night.
I hope that you all have a good day, and thank you LB for starting this gentle, welcoming thread. It really is a lovely place to come for a chat. 😁

Good morning all. The sun is shining, there's no wind or rain and I've been spending a little time outside , just pottering around and tending to a few things, I've planted an evergreen fern we bought the other week, and I've put the 3 cyclamens outside, after denuding them of mushy stems etc.
Weve been up in the loft to hunt out some film equipment that used to be my dads, as I am going to up give them to my brother to see if he can work out how they work. Think one table top projector is broke ( it was when dad gave it to me). I have no use for them but he said it would give him a rainy afternoon project to work on. He isn't too well at the moment, has had a bad chest infection for weeks now and despite three courses of antibiotics, it's still not cleared. He's had a very croaky voice for two weeks too.
Have taken all the garden lights down now so all back to normal.
Red Maple, glad you had a good time last night. We didn't stop up. Hope your OH tummy settles soon. Maybe something he ate?
Rosie, how are you feeling today.? Has the temperature gone down? Hope you're feeling a little better.

Good afternoon all. I've just got back from having my customary drink for the New Year with Jack. He has run out of his medication and his daughter has been trying desperately to get some organised for him. It is specifically for his myasthenia gravis and many of the chemists she has tried are out of stock. She did finally find one and has had to shoot off to collect some before they close. Fingers crossed all goes well.
Red maple, I do hope that the tummy bug clears your OH's system soon and he recovers quickly.
T'Bird, your OH can come round here and clean my car if he is short of something to do. I noticed that it is developing its own micro eco systems along the window edges where tiny clumps of moss have formed with all the rain we have had.
Hazel, you have managed to get into the garden! That is wonderful! I am hoping - with everything crossed - that I can get into mine tomorrow. I have noticed that the bird feeders are empty again. My cyclamen need picking over also as they are starting to die back now. I will be putting them out into the garden as soon as possible.
Rosie, I echo Hazel's comments and hope that you too are on the road to recovery.
May I thank you all for the kind words also. It is an absolute joy chatting with you all.

I hope Hazel's brother and Red maple's OH get better soon.

I've had another gardening day, knackered, but all the beds are now weeded and mulched so I hope they will be OK for our stay in Norfolk. I dug up the 6 bush salvias that I'd planted in the round rose bed as they were smothering the roses. Planted them elsewhere.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

I've been back into the garden this afternoon LB! I went out to do a little job and ended up spending about an hour out there. I've turned some soil over and tidied the borders and cut back some of the ferns which are turning now. Then I decided to check my dahlia tubers ( had prepared them the way Monty has suggested- not my usual way) and found plenty of rotting and mush and fluffy mould growing. Not happy. We have decided to go to a g/c tomorrow so will be looking out for things we need plus dahlia tubers (?) and some fresh new seeds too.( That's your fwult @Ante1😂)
After my stint outside I have begun to feel quite positive and quite excited for the spring to come. I can feel the green bug returning😀
LB, what a nightmare for Jacks daughter. I ordered my medicines a little early so that I'd be free from worrying about running out over the festive period. Hope he is doing okay.

Debs, I meant to add that I was pleased to hear that your fiancé made it back in time and also to say, Hazel, how sorry I was to read that your brother has been poorly and I hope that the puzzle helps to fill his mind, working out how to make the projector usable again. Jack is doing well Hazel. His vision is so much better having had both cataracts removed.
Busy, 2 days before your return trip. Are you looking forward to getting back to Norfolk for a while?
