    Afternoon all.

My outside lights are all down now. Christmas tree will wait till Friday. Delivery arrived very early but no without problems. I bought set which contain desk, chair and shelve, but they decided make three parcels and send it separately. So, today I got shelve and chair, and will see what will come tomorrow.Β
Meteor shower should be visible tonight, but with clouds and fog I'll see one only if it hits me.Β

Good afternoon all. What a miserable, dark day it has been here today. I did nip out to the garden cxentre but was unimpressed with the items in their sales. I did get some birthday cards for two little ladies who are 1 and 3 years old this month and I bought 4 tiny plants - 1 haworthia, 2 echeveria and 1 echinocereus cactus - which were all reduced.
Busy, that is a long crossing. I bet you will be ready for a nice sleep when you land in Eastbourne.
I hope the third parcel will be the desk then Ante! And please do not get smacked on the head by a meteor!

@Biglad, I would be totally hacked off if my bank was trying to get me to take on extra loans etc. too. It doesn't email me very often thank goodness and usually only to tell me about new conditions. They gave up asking me years ago if I wanted a credit card with them. No thank you very much.
T'Bird, I was very pleased to hear that the police were so proactive regarding the laser. I know it will have been a pain for your OH filling in all the paperwork but, as you intimated, the word will get round.
That must have been quite an interesting - if harrowing - talk about Auschwitz. I remember when my sister, brother-in-law and their very young (at the time) family drove to Austria for a holiday. We decided after much deliberation - because we were so near - to visit Dachau. It was incredibly sobering and I remember the eerie silence within the grounds. No birds, no insects, just the noise of our footprints. Only after looking around the museum did I then realise the horrors of what had actually gone on there and the enormity of man's inhumanity to man. The rest of the drive that day was very quiet.

What busy days some of you have had. Busy, I hope the remaining journey goes without a hitch.,Please take care, you'll be shattered by the time you reach Eastbourne.

Ante, your new furniture sounds exciting, just the sort of project my OH would like to get his hands on. As LB says, mind your head tonight!πŸ˜‚

Biglad, we're all in the middle of high interest rates and a cost of living crisis, so yes, a great time for banks to start offering remortgaging options, makes you laugh.....not.😬

@Ladybird4, LB, I wanted to ask you about your experience with BG. I have spent much of the morning on-line trying to find where I can see my usage monthly but to no avail. It's a new system on line and previously, when I sent in a meter reading, I'd get an e mail saying what my then credit/deficit was after taking into the account the reading. Now we get nothing. Is that the same for you? I'm wondering if something is wrong with our account you see. Thanks.

Been a miserable day today, cold and wet day.

LB and Hazel, I waited outside till now, but nothing happened. πŸ˜‚ It would be nice to see that, but clouds don't allow.Β

It's Poirot on tv, so I'll leave my book and watch it. It's one of the last episodes, quite dark and wistful.Β

I might call their bluff and give them a bell, @Songbird-2. Not sure they'll still be as keen if I asked for half a million with a current income of absolutely nothing :DΒ

Hazel, briefly, I was with one of the companies that went bust and BG were the 'supplier of last resort' provided by Ofgem i.e. they stepped in and took over. It took me 7 months to get it all sorted. I nearly went insane but got some brilliant assistance from the Extra Help Unit recommended by the Citizens Advice. I get goose bumps every time I think of it.
I send my meter readings in to BG at the beginning of every month but I, like you, cannot access any other information and trying to get them on the phone is nigh on impossible.
I sent my readings in on the 2nd and got an email acknowledging this with a note saying I would be able to access my details online in 48 hours. I'll let you know.

Ante, enjoy Poirot. I am signing out now and am looking forward to the next Silent Witness. See you all tomorrow. Enjoy your evenings.

Thanks LB. Pretty much the same predicament as we are now in. I remember you saying about the troubles you had when you changed to BG, nightmare. I can access the account but have no idea about our usage. I've sent another meter reading in today,so will see what happens. We've managed to vaguely work it out ourselves , ( approximately) so we have at least some idea of our usage over the past month.
Ante, enjoy Poirot, I think most of the last series was very dark and " atmospheric", lots of new dramas seem to be recorded with dark backgrounds these days.
Im signing out too folks. See you later.Β

Hazel - when I had the last set of problems with BG in November I just couldn't get through on the phone. I did, however, have a reasonably successful online / bot chat.

It was slightly disconcerting when I first started because I was number 99 in the queue. However, the queue actually went down quite quickly & I only had to wait about 20 minutes to get to number 1.

It's a bit of a faff having to type your question rather than just speaking it, but theΒ main advantage (for my problem) was that I was able to save a written transcript of the 'conversation' - so I have that as evidence if I need to revisit the issue in the future. Might be worth a try.Β
