Good morning everyone . Another wet and windy day here .LB we have had a couple of spam mails in the last few months . If you haven’t entered a competition you haven’t won .I feel sorry for those who fall for the scam.

Good morning Ruby. I too feel so sorry for the innocent people who get sucked up into this type of scam. Sadly it usually seems to be the more senior members of society.

Good morning all. On the subject of scams I always remember “if it seems too good to be true then it’s a lie” maybe I am too cynical but I never enter competitions so of course I am wary when I “win”
Lovely lazy day yesterday with fiancé watched some films and just relaxed. Off to see his family later his mom has a few little jobs for him and then we will see his daughter and grandchildren.
Cold here and drizzly. Hope you all have a good day planned

Good morning LB, Rubee and all to follow.

LB, hope you nephew will not be too disappointed with result. As a Gunner supporter I don't mind.  😂 You should see my email which I use for online shopping and similar things. It's overcrowded with spam and scam emails.

Grey, but calm and warm morning. Two days ago we reached a new temp record for January. It was 19  ℃, horrible for plants and animals.
I'm enjoying my first cup of tea and searching for sweet potatoes seedlings online. Today should arrive first delivery in this year.

Wish you all nice and relax day.

    Good morning Debs and Ante.
Debs, it sounds like the perfect day you had hoped for yesterday. Hope that you have a lovely visit today.
Ante - wow! That temperature is quite extraordinary when you think of the time of year. Yes, as you say, the animals and plants will be totally confused and if you get some more wintry weather some plants may be lost. Good luck with your sweet potato hunt.

    Good morning all,
wet and dreary looking here today. It’s stopped raining for now but I think it will be back. Goodness @Ante1 17 degrees is too warm for this time of year, isn’t it? No wonder the animals and plants are getting so confused.
It sounds as if you had a lovely day yesterday Debs.

Morning all. Frost first thing but quickly warmed up and disappeared. Now it’s spitting on.
Not too much going on today. Need to walk round to shop that’s closing and pay the papers up to date now as I’ve cancelled account.

Afternoon all. Just back from the first U3A talk of the year which was about Auschwitz. The guest speaker leads pilgrimages to various religious destinations - amongst which he includes Auschwitz. He finds it an incredibly spiritual and moving place to visit. Always eerily quiet (considering the number of visitors) yet alive with the ghosts of those who were taken there and tales of goodness amongst the evil atrocities. It was a deeply moving talk.

We are very impressed with Suffolk police. It is a criminal offence to endanger the safe operation of an aircraft, which is why OH had to file an online police report about yesterday's laser pen 'attack'. Within half an hour of so doing, he had a call from a police office who was 'going out that way' and would go and knock on some doors. He asked OH what he would like the outcome of his visit to be. OH said "Just put the fear of God into the b*****s in the hope it will stop them or their mates doing it again"

Officer rang back within the hour to say that a serving American serviceman lives at the pinpointed address (we have several USAF bases nearby) and he was reasonably confident that he wasn't personally guilty of the offence. I don't think they'll be pursuing it further but, hopefully, word will be out that the police have actively investigated the matter and (if it was another member of that household or a neighbour) they will think twice before repeating the exercise. If it was a junior member of that household I suspect he'll be getting a rocket from his dad - the American military are very conscious of keeping on the right side of their English hosts.

Hope Rosie is feeling a bit better. There seemed to be a lot of really quite poorly people at the meeting so fingers crossed I haven't picked up a load of germs....

    Afternoon all,

    Marti still in residence here.

The communications that I've started getting recently aren't really classic spam @Ladybird4, but I'm finding one of my banks telling me that "now is a great time to remortgage" a tad irritating. For starters, the great time to remortgage was when interest rates were lower. Then there's the fact that I've got currently a fixed rate (at a lower rate than any around now) which runs until my mortgage is paid off next year. Think they might be barking up the wrong tree despite having full access to all my financial activities. I just wish they'd send me statements instead....

Hello all from Dieppe, waiting at the ferry port. We are early and they asked us to allow 2 hours. After the passport checks there were 2 men searching cars but they just looked in the boot and said they wouldn't search it.

4 hours crossing then staying a couple of nights in Eastbourne with OH's daughter, SIL and 2 grandchildren.
