Done the SM run and now having a cuppa before I need to think about lunch etc.

Hiya @Chivetalking. It's so lovely to see you - we miss your chat about life and work. Hope everyone is ok. Happy New Year to you all.

Rubee - I really should get out in the garden. Everything has gone black and mushy after the heavy frosts and all the leaves which were clinging on through the mild weather have now fallen leaving a thick wet carpet over the borders and some paths. Today would be an ideal day to start but I'm just not feeling it....

Afternoon all. I, too, have been in my garden but boy did my hands start to feel the cold. Your description of the leaf blanket T'Bird is definitely duplicated here. I use the 'well they will be protecting the plants underneath from any frost' excuse at the moment. Got my lunch cooking now and I am very hungry. I'm having chicken, new potatoes, Brussels sprouts (love them!) and baby corn today followed by Christmas pudding and salted caramel ice cream. Piggy or what???

LB, good job we cancelled that account and thanks for the heads up.
Went to garden centre where the Christmas sale was in full swing. Very few plants out and we had the place to ourselves whilst browsing round some perennials. Came away with a Gaura( Rosy Jane although I do prefer the white ones, but none available) and a Coreopsis Early Sunrise. I shall put those in the greenhouse for now and will need to find them a space. Also got some Cosmos seeds, marigolds and calendula. Bought son a couple of small presents for his upcoming birthday too.
The best buy was the following, I have never seen them before....

Can be used singly or put together to make a string of six ( or less as required). Will never rust and are extremely lightweight. Some are already in the Rowan tree😀 I am not advertising these, they are my present to me🤭

Yes @Songbird-2, it does sound as if you’ve dodged a bullet by cancelling. The majority of reviews about this company that I’ve viewed are, indeed, extremely negative.

    Hello all.

Rubee, I hope Rosie is better soon.

I slept badly last night, maybe worrying about the journey tomorrow, lots of motorway.

Busy day. I've taken down the decorations and crib, changed the bedding, packed my case and my wanted on ferry bag, checked handbag. Bags are all by the door waiting to go in the car. Wine, and other stuff too, such as chocolate Dordogne walnuts (presents).

Must go to the bins up the road with the last of the rubbish and empty the compost bucket.

Off early tomorrow, long drive to Dieppe.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

There you go Hazel. What a super idea - I have never seen anything like that before.
Oh Busy, I can imagine the excitement and the trepidation about your upcoming trip back to Norfolk but I'm sure it will all go fine.
p.s. Hazel, I meant to say what a great collection of seeds and plants you got too. I might take a visit to my GC tomorrow now - you have spurred me on!

Red Maple, the shop has been closed due to the company going into administration. I don't think they have anything to do with the company taking over the paper deliveries. Anyway, OH is quite happy to go for them and be in control ourselves.
Thanks LB for turning the picture . I can't wait to start sowing seeds.😊
These posts are coming through very oddly today. There are lots of posts in between my last posts and those this morning so please don't think you are getting ignored by me, as the posts weren't there when I posted. Talk about snuckering in....😬
Busy, all the best tomorrow. You've been very busy as usual, try and take it easy when you reach the UK for a while.

Hazel - the website isn't working very well for me on my desktop computer today (it's fine on the iPad) so maybe it's not you.

OH has just come back from flying. He's done a couple of hours with one of his students and while they were out they had a laser shone at them🤬. It's more dangerous at night - but still a stupid thing to do. Bored kids probably but he is now required to do a lot of paperwork including an Air Safety report for the CAA and file a police report. Fortunately he thought to take a photo of where the laser was operated and will probably be able to pinpoint the location quite accurately with the help of Google maps.

Not the first time it's happened. The worst time was when he was flying with lots of passengers in the back. It was at night and coming in to land at Schipol (so they were at low altitude). It temporarily affected his vision and he needed to visit the medical centre as soon as they were back on the ground.

Are these muppets actually hoping to watch a plane crash???

Gosh, @Topbird, that sounds dangerous. I hope the guilty are caught.

Thanks Hazel. There is a garden waiting for me to sort out in Norfolk 😁 I don't want to be bored!

Having a cuppa, but nearly ready. Must make some sandwiches. I wonder where OH's things are? Hope he's packed his case.

OMG T'Bird. Website decorum bars me from typing what I would really like to say about dreadful people - of whatever age - who think its a fun thing to shine a laser at an aircraft. I cannot believe how stupid and irresponsible they can be. I hope the ******** are apprehended and, if it were me, I would jail them for a short while so that they could think about what might have happened through their idiocy! Hope your OH isn't too shaken by this incident seeing as how it has happened to him before. Curses and profane words!
