Good afternoon all. It was interesting at the Food Bank today as we had a lot of weighing in and dating to do. We had to prepare an allowance for a large family (+dog) for a pick up at 10:00 but the family did not show up until 11:00 so the bags were taking up a lot of space. Bestie and I were diverted after our weighing and dating to preparing baskets of clothing and toiletries for babies from the clothing bank that is also based at the Church we work from. Some of the teeny tiny clothes that had been donated were so beautiful - a lot of hand knitted garments too. It was an interesting experience. I thought about you Hazel, and your lovely blankets.
Debs, my niece in the North East has packed away all of her decs too. She works from home and wanted her rooms cleared before next Tuesday. I think mine will stay up a bit longer.
Rosie, you sound to have had a wonderful day. It wasn't too bad at Bestie's apart from the very strong wind which really had an icy edge to it.
Red maple, I remember visiting Fountains Abbey many, many years ago. Beautiful scenery around there. Enjoy your fish 'n' chip supper tonight.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
@Red maple I've been to Fountains Abbey. My best friend at school lived very near there for a while, she has moved since but still lives near Ripon now.
It has tipped with rain today. We went to the SM then I did something with a hot flat thing while I watched Monty Don looking at French Gardens on the TV.
I won't be taking my decorations down just yet, I like them. Usually do it on the 5th January but we are going to the UK on the 3rd so I will have to take them down by then.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
@Red maple, you are very near to where we live. We spent many a happy time with the kids at Fountains Abbey, year after year and still love the place to this day. Glad you had a good day despite the inclement weather. Be good to get out and get some fresh air. I am still waiting to get to Harlow Carr but something, every year, gets in the way and we have yet to make it there.Must try harder. After SM run I have done some indoor jobs which turned into a major sp**g c***n in two bedrooms😬 I'm a bit 😲🤐 at what I found.......but am pleased now it's all done🤗 Also dyed my hair( which needs a good cut) so feeling almost normal now. Rosie, we've both been in cl*****g mode I see. Alfie will benefit from a good groom. Debs, as Rosie says, we normally take our decs down on New Years Day too but I have started surreptitiously putting one or two things away already🤭 LB, how good that the clothing bank is near to your food bank. I would use that with my knitted things but we don't seem to have one here. I normally pass them on to the Marie Curie charity shop where they don't seem to last long from what I've seen. I would love to give some of the blankets to a clothing bank. You've certainly been busy there today, bet you're ready for a sit down tonight. OC? I'll be there. Busy, it's been very windy here today and had some rain earlier. It was a cold wind too so not out for too long, Lovely supper on the cards for you and OH👍
Morning all. I’m half asleep. I had a very early breakfast and cup of tea and then came back to bed with a furry friend beside me. I’ll see if I can get a couple of hours.
Good morning Rosie and all arriving later. I was awake at 03:00 this morning and I did finally get back to sleep after I read for a bit. Lots of things going round in my head. Not long for this old year now. anyone got a party planned?

Good morning everyone .It’s a little warmer here today .I will see if I can do a bit of gardening this afternoon. Rosie I hope yo get back to sleep .LB I hope you have a rest today being awake at that time is tiring.
Good morning Ruth. I haven't been out to test the temperature yet. Got an email to say a parcel is being delivered between 07:53 and 08:53 this morning. Good job I'm up!

Good morning all. Got fiancé home just for one day he is very tired and planning a lazy day. I am at work later hoping it won’t be too bad.
The house looks so clean and tidy and uncluttered I love it. I adore Christmas but when it’s over it’s over for me.
@Ladybird4 well done at the food bank I bet it was busy as people can do easily overspend at Christmas and underestimate the time until the next payday.
Good morning all. A blustery morning here today, with rain in the air. Just gathering myself together with a cuppa before I get dressed - managed a lie in today, it must have been due to the fresh air and exercise yesterday. No party as such @Ladybird4, just popping round to a neighbours house tomorrow evening for a drink and light bites to see in the New Year. There was a time when we’d be off out to a pub then back to someone’s party, but those days are long gone. We prefer a quieter way of welcoming in the New Year now.
