Quick dash to the shops then a lazy afternoon for us again today.  May all Forkers have a pleasant evening, however you choose to spend it!  See you next year!

  • Morning everyone,  although we live hundreds of miles away we seem to be getting the same weather as you @punkdoc.  I  liked your "typo" too corkers, hopefully we will all be popping a few .
My SD & sil always have a big bash at new year but I won't be going too full of cold,  OH will go TBH I find it all a bit loud and hectic these days.  As others have said on this and other threads  I have done the big bashes in the past not so bothered now.

Afternoon all, still raining here, getting a bit fed up with it now, but hopefully it's supposed to be drier over the next two days. Had our exercise this morning so now just chilling out on the sofa. We're rationing ourselves to one mincepie with coffee and a slice of Xmas cake as part of lunch but I'm sure I can already feel the pounds piling on.

I was flabbergasted this morning to see a woman whose recycling bins hadn't been collected, empty her bottles and then the plastics into the public waste bin by the bus stop. I suppose it's better than flytipping them.

Nice one @D0rdogne_Damsel! Sit in the spa and relax.

Enjoy your evening tonight folks however you spend it. See you all in 2023!

    Evening everyone.

    Rain continues…

Did a small SM shop this morning, visited Dad to check his feet and have a cuppa, and then lazed about. Just making a curry for tonight and I have conjured up a bread n butter pudding with leftover brioche and some chocolate orange! Not sure how it will turn out but should be tasty (and definitely calorific).

I hope everyone is doing ok and can find something positive to give you a smile every day.

Have a pleasant evening all, whether you are marking the occasion of New Year or not 🥂

It's been a mild day but the forecast sun didn't turn up until the end of the afternoon.

I've weeded and mulched the Jewel Bed and the Terrace bed. Took a few hours.

Just a quick pop down to the village stores for some bananas and more milk then home to begin the tidying up after all the visitors left yesterday/last night. By the way all the travellers got home safely and within normal driving time. Now having a restful afternoon and evening, maybe awake at midnight maybe not.
Wishing you all a Happy, Healthy and Peaceful 2023 - see you next year.

Hi all! Absolutely persisting down all day here. Took daughter and husband to the Donkey Sanctuary for a leisurely breakfast, but it was so wet, and shrouded in low cloud, that we didn’t get even a chance of a walk.
We've had a lovely evening so far, slow cooked beef in red wine, a concentrated assault on the Christmas drinks, and two episodes of Christmas University Challenge ( son in law has links to three Oxford colleges and two London ones, so very hard to know who to root for!) OH and I will probably retire to bed before midnight, but leave the two youngsters to open the bottle of fizz and welcome the New Year!
Our belated Christmas festivities have worked out fine. Son and family joined us yesterday, and I had a glorious day drooling over my gorgeous grandsons. The food was all consumed in an enthusiastic manner, both boys were absolutely charming and well behaved young lads ( 10 and 12 years old) and such fun. I’m a very proud granny!
The only down point was a note today from next door, our elderly neighbour passed away unexpectedly on Christmas Day. Our houses in our road are spaced so far apart that we often don’t cross paths for weeks at a time. I’ll drop a note with our phone and email details, in case his wife would like any help or support in the future.
A Happy New Year to all. Have enjoyed your virtual company more than you’ll know! Take care of yourselves.
