    Hi all

Still dark outside and very wet. Have opened the g/h for a while and I am going back to bed with my book.

    Good morning,
feeling quite lazy this morning, not long up. Must have been all that fresh air yesterday.
ย Itโ€™s very blustery here today with rain in the wind so far, but I expect it will become more persistent.
    Enjoy your book @punkdoc.

    Morning all.

Raining. We are having a quiet day. We won't be doing anything for New Year. I've always preferred Christmas anyway. I hope it will be the year that OH has his hip replacement.

    I hope so too, @Busy-Lizzie.
I used to love NYE, always partying, but now it will be a quiet night in with something good to eat.

  • Morning everyone,ย  very dark wet and miserable here, just like my mood, the cold, & sore throat are really taking hold in spite of my attempt to avoid it. Would love to sit and read but my eyes ache too after not very long.ย  Trivial compared to others woes but there it is.

Nothing doing here for NY either.ย  But we have been invited to a wine & cheese gathering for NY day evening so we'll have to dress up a bit for that.

Horrible squally weather.ย  I much prefer crisp cold to chilly sogginess.

Afternoon folks, raining - again! . I was hoping to start pruning my roses but it's not the weather for it.
We're also in the no NYE parties camp and have been for a number of years, in fact I can't remember when we last attended one. We probably won't even bother to stay up to midnight, although the fireworks (if there are any) might keep us awake I suppose.ย

Fortunately OH got over his cold before Xmas and so far I seem to have missed it, fingers crossed. Sympathies to those still suffering - definitely time to get checked over @wild edges, in case you have a chest infection now. Seems like hospitalised flu cases are increasing rapidly.ย

I was given a new knife block complete with knives as a Xmas gift, but what on earth is a santoku knife and what is it used for? They all look rather scary.

Santuko knives are general purpose kitchen knives which have a distinctive scalloped edge. I think it is designed for easy chopping of veg etc. with the scallops helping stuff not to stick to the blade.
