    If you don't need to phone for being a phone, then you're much better off with a new camera @Fairygirl but if you need a phone and a camera it's hard to beat the convenience. However they have their limitations and zooming in close is one of them, I'd definitely not recommend one for any sort of wildlife photos.
    I’ve no idea what I’m doing.

    Good to know @Latimer - thanks.
    I hate phones, and only use mine for emergencies. Daughter's always telling me off for not taking it with me if I go out.  ;)
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    Thank you @Latimer and @Fairygirl.

    I used to hate phones but then I bought a good Smartphone and now I've got to grips with it I love it. It's a mini computer/camera combined.

    I agree that a camera gives a depth of image that phones can't do. Especially my crappy one. I do have a camera but because of shoulder and neck pain I have stopped using.
    @Latimer great shots.

    Lovely pictures @Latimer and @Fairygirl. The bluebells are pretty much over here in the South East, last week in the Lakes they were at their peak. Growing on the fellside they were about half the height of our local woodland bluebells. Agree that they're a difficult subject to photograph, too easily washed out as you say.
    I'd go for a camera @Fairygirl, I use a phone but it does have its limitations, my better half has a much better ' eye' for a picture than I, so I take snaps and leave the ' proper ' photography to her.
    As you've probably noticed many of my shots involve Floss posing 🤣🤣

    A phone would be useful for taking when I'm just out and about on a daily walk, but I'll go with everyone's advice and just look at updating the camera if it gets a bit more worn out. It's been great for hill photos, and I really like the panorama feature on it, and the amount of zoom [x36] but the zoom function itself is getting a bit dodgy, so not so good for those times when something's happening and you need a quick reaction from it. It was on offer when I got it, so it's been well worth it.
    Fortunately, it worked quite well when I'd come back in and the sparrows were in having a bath in the pond  :)
