If you don't need to phone for being a phone, then you're much better off with a new camera @Fairygirl but if you need a phone and a camera it's hard to beat the convenience. However they have their limitations and zooming in close is one of them, I'd definitely not recommend one for any sort of wildlife photos.
Good to know @Latimer - thanks. I hate phones, and only use mine for emergencies. Daughter's always telling me off for not taking it with me if I go out.

I agree that a camera gives a depth of image that phones can't do. Especially my crappy one. I do have a camera but because of shoulder and neck pain I have stopped using. @Latimer great shots.
I hate phones for a different reason @Busy-Lizzie, and nothing to do with their performance. Not really a discussion for this thread, or forum. Did some other pix of the bluebells which are better, as I went into the little bit of woodland itself

Lovely pictures @Latimer and @Fairygirl. The bluebells are pretty much over here in the South East, last week in the Lakes they were at their peak. Growing on the fellside they were about half the height of our local woodland bluebells. Agree that they're a difficult subject to photograph, too easily washed out as you say. I'd go for a camera @Fairygirl, I use a phone but it does have its limitations, my better half has a much better ' eye' for a picture than I, so I take snaps and leave the ' proper ' photography to her. As you've probably noticed many of my shots involve Floss posing 🤣🤣
A phone would be useful for taking when I'm just out and about on a daily walk, but I'll go with everyone's advice and just look at updating the camera if it gets a bit more worn out. It's been great for hill photos, and I really like the panorama feature on it, and the amount of zoom [x36] but the zoom function itself is getting a bit dodgy, so not so good for those times when something's happening and you need a quick reaction from it. It was on offer when I got it, so it's been well worth it. Fortunately, it worked quite well when I'd come back in and the sparrows were in having a bath in the pond

I walked with my Daughter 1 today. She has come with her family for a couple of days to my house in West Dordogne. Here are some photos. I didn't have my camera so took them with my phone. There were orchids in the grass and wild roses.
Le Lavoir, where the ladies of the village used to do their washing in the days before washing machines and piped water.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
I went on a 5 1/2 km walk with the walking club today. There was some pretty countryside just over the Dordogne border in Charente. We had a good lunch in a restaurant after the walk. It was fun.

Not been out on a hill for ages, but got out yesterday to a little hill I've done many times. Roasting hot, but a nice breeze once there was a little bit of height. No need for jackets or even fleeces - for a change! I always think this rock looks like a lady - she's admiring The Brack over in the distance
One of my favourite hills at any time of year -Beinn an Lochain, with the Cruachan hills in the far distance to the left Lots of forestry work going on down at the foot Beinn Ime and Beinn Luibhean on the right, and Beinn Lui and her neighbours in the distance Left to right- B. Luibhean, B.Ime, Beinn Narnain and Ben Arthur [The Cobbler] Some of the rocky outcrop at the little scramble. Ideal for a seat and a little break I don't think we have a camera thread for this year, so I'll start a new one.

I used to hate phones but then I bought a good Smartphone and now I've got to grips with it I love it. It's a mini computer/camera combined.
@Latimer great shots.
