That's lovely @coccinella. Stone work of any kind is beautiful, even when it's for something so sad. There's a lovely memorial en route to some of the Glen Etive hills. I have a photo somewhere.
I know what you mean @Balgay.Hill, but as an 'older' woman [ ;) ] walking on my own, it's just a bridge too far in winter. If you could guarantee clear conditions for long enough, it would be fine, but that's impossible anywhere!
On western hills, it's the clag/low cloud that creates the problem with visibility. I've lost count of the pix taken at summits where you can see b*gger all beyond a few feet. Makes the good days worth it though  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Wadi Shab, in Oman. I was on a work trip there for about a month so we tried to see at least a bit of the country on the weekends.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

Wow @steephill. I understand your choice of avatar now 😂. Fab photos, I hope the pub at the top was worth it. Thank you for sharing.

How odd - the symbol above the skull and crossbones looks like the depiction of what's taken to be St Catherine at Royston...

    ....sorry to interrupt.
