So sorry, @AnnaB. This forum is a useful place to let out some feelings, especially when you and yours might get overwhelmed. Most posters on here have broad shoulders and warm hearts, and plenty of sympathy, so do feel free to have a vent.
Condolences to @AnnaB, no need to apologise for posting.
After another very wet and rainy night, thankfully it held off while I walked to the shop this morning. The track through the orchard is getting quite muddy with all the fallen leaves but fortunately the lane isn't flooding any more due to the recent drainage works on the worse bit. Then it was off to the dentists for both of us, taking turns for the hygienist and dentist. A couple of hundred pounds later, we were both given the all clear although OH has to have a filling done next month.
It's been an expensive day as I've had to order a new duvet and pillows. Our old duvet was dated 2011 and was getting bare patches where the filling had disintegrated. It was a 7.5 tog one which I couldn't find today and have ordered a 10.5 one instead so we won't need our lightweight throw on top.
That's a trip and a half @Dovefromabove, I hope your OH is duly grateful!
Your Local History group sounds interesting @didyw, you seem to sit on a lot of committees though! When do you find the time?
That reminded me, we were going to have gone to the local History group talk (English) yesterday, in a nearby village here in Dordogne. I forgot as my roses were being delivered, but couldn't have gone anyway as I had to be in when they came.
It has rained all day. I started to paint the end wall, last one, in our bedroom. 2nd coat tomorrow. Then I can put the small wardrobe back and move the chest of drawers for the next bit. It's pine panelling so I have to do all the joins with a paint brush.
I made an apple and blackberry pie which went down very well with OH.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Good morning all 😊 ☕️ Brrr! @Pat E … here you are, have a hot drink ☕️ Still dark and a bit damp here, and I think it’s around 8C. Getting colder next week … apparently …
Today I need to go to the farm shop and butcher …

Good morning everyone! Hi Pat @Pat E What strange weather indeedy!!
Still mild here - we had a sprinkle of rain around 8pm last night - nothing major. The sky is steely grey this morning and it is very damp.
Apple and blackberry eh? @Busy-Lizzie Sounds like a good plan! An apple a day - even cooked, keeps the doctor away. (According to Michael Moseley on BBC Sounds).
Today says: Journée de Saint Aude, ordinairement n'est pas chaude. (Well, no. It's almost winter!).
Condolences @AnnaB, a very sad time for all concerned. Reading such a sad post makes me feel grateful that despite a few difficulties in life at the moment, nothing is beyond fixing, a death puts things in perspective a bit really. I hope the support network around your daughter's ExP can help, all terribly sad though.
Wet weather here all week, I was so hoping to get some tulips in the ground, but far too wet.
I've been busy/pre-occupied anyway. I've found a nice little house, been to the bank and they said (no promises) that I could have the loan in principle, I've put in an offer, it's been accepted, and now all paperwork is underway.
I've also decided to rent the little restaurant, not buy the bigger one, and see how it goes. The bank have promised to fund that project. I just need to pin down the rather slimy landlord now, even the bank manager said he was 'tricky'. I'm hoping as long as just pay my rent on time he'll leave me alone. The building is being totally refurbished, it won't be ready until May, so that should deal with any maintenance issues, which apparently he tends to ignore once the paperwork is signed.
So, fingers, toes and everything crossed. I've not mentioned it to Charlie yet, in case it all goes pear shaped, he does know my general plans, but I don't want to show him the house, he gets all excited and then it doesn't happen. We're a few weeks away from it being secured yet. I do know the seller, there is no chain, it's also empty, but it's the loan agreement as it gets higher up the bank ladder I'm worried about. My bank manager did tell me not to worry though, which was reassuring.
Late night yesterday too, so my mind has been distracted, we had a funeral party in, 30 of them, all driven down from Holland, 2 course meal and endless wine and beer, nearly midnight before they went, but they spent a lot so happy to oblige. Very nice people too. Apparently, the man who died was a famous pop star in Holland.he lived 10 minutes from here.
Right, back to baking, Christmas Cake and pudding preparation today.
A good day to all, and thoughts and hugs to those suffering.
