No fireworks here either. There will be a village bonfire, fireworks and hog roast on the 5th. We won't be there this year as we are going to France on Tuesday.
There us a map on the village website to put your house on if you are willing to accept trick or treaters.
We enjoyed having friends round for dinner last night.
LB, my back is fine now, thanks. My knee is still painful though, better when not sitting for too long.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Morning all. Dark and raining here, feels miserable. We don't get bothered by any trick or treats callers in the cold e sac where we live. Not on any " highway" of school children or even little ones....must be all grown up now. LB, your knitting sounds lovely and well done for having nearly finished it. BTW have been meaning to say I did discover the " surprise " ending to Doctor Who....saw it on the iPad news, not many hours after I had asked on here what it was!( I don't watch Morning TV, too half asleep for it๐).ย We are going out today to look for some you-know-what presents ( we seem to need loads this year) and some more gravel.Other parts of the garden are beginning to sink a bit so OH wants to top them up.Then a nice garden centre trip is on the agenda. Rubee, how is your OH now? Is he feeling any better? SGL, I had my hair cut just before last week so it seems the season/time that we are all going to the hairdressers. Mine had grown quite a lot. Hope you are okay. Catch you later folks, need a drink now.ย
Hello all. Christmas cakes in the oven one big one , 5 little ones for friends and neighbours and one for us to taste to check the mixture. House smells lovelyย
Hazel ,OH is feeling brighter thank you for asking .Enjoy your shopping .Debs I donโt bake Christmas cakes . My mum baked all the Christmas cakes and pastries.I baked chocolate cakes walnut cakes and buns .Then we shared .It worked very well .
Been out all morning and got back home after dinner time- very slow drivers on the roads causing long back-up queue's and then lots of traffic. Managed to get quite a few more xmas presents, thankfully, and when in town, got some bits and pieces we needed too. We are both quite tired now with all the driving around and walking what felt like miles๐ฌ Its a mild day now with some sun but knitting and rest beckons so any outside work will now have to wait.
Debs I can almost smell your delicious cakes from here. You must have a big oven to get all of those cakes in. Is your Fiancรฉ working this weekend and are you the commis chef?
Ruby, coffee and walnut cake used to be one of my favourites - I love walnuts.
It was a lovely day today here so the trip to Canasta was very pleasant indeed. However, the dreaded road workers have taken up position in the Lane and its causing all kinds of chaos with the traffic.
Hazel, I hope that you have a pleasant trip to the GC, Will you be going tomorrow?
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Rubee, glad,to hear OH is feeling better. Hope it ย continues and he gets over it soon.ย LB, popped into the garden centre today, that's where we got some presents, didn't even look round the plants section, aren't we good!? We've noticed that there are a lot of roadworks going on nowadays, they seem to be everywhere, causing trouble๐
One shelf for big cake one shelf for 6 minis. Hope they taste as good as they smell.ย
Babysitting for Tom tonight, his parents are out for a curry so it wonโt be a late one. I am at work tomorrow morning then late lunch at my sisters then I need to decorate the porch for Halloween ๐. Got oldest daughter and granddaughter for lunch on Sunday and hopefully more trickle treaters in the evening. Fiancรฉ down in Bristol again now wedding season is nearly over.ย
We too have a lot of road works locally letโs hope the many pot holes will be sorted outย
