    Afternoon all.

Hazel, sorry to hear that new coat doesn't have quality like old one. At least your new gloves sound warm.

Hope LB didn't have problems with snow. Btw. I'm blame you for mentioning snow this morning. It snowing here.๐Ÿ˜

I made one batch of biscuits, and after short rest will do another one. With temperature drop rain turned into snow. I'm glad I made trip yesterday, today would be horrible to drive.ย  ย

Ante, if any spare biscuits are going, I'll have some please! Two batches by the end of day, impressive.
Popped into town but we suchย got a shock though. Our favourite shop there, one that has been going for many many years and which I believe is popular, has gone into administration. Got talking to the lady at the till and she said they only got told yesterday and the shop will close next month. What a thing to do to people right on Christmas, despicable. ย The staff are in a state of shock, as are we. The type of shops we shop at for our clothes are all gone now so goodness knows what we will do. Plus, it will just add yet another empty to the shopping centre. Its getting dire.ย

Hazel, sorry to hear about shop closing. What a terrible news for workers just before Christmas. Small shops here are mostly closed, they just can't compete with big shopping chains.ย

That's the problem @Ante1 plus the high business rates and costs of running the places. It's such a shame, I was really quite upset hearing they're closing. Can't understand why as it's always been a popular shop. My OH was saying that, at some point, there won't be any shopping centres or shops left. ย it'll all go on-line. No more browsing around๐Ÿ˜ข Such a crying shame.
Its footy time here now so I've taken myself, off with my knitting. I'll be waiting to hear either " hurrays" or " groaning, oh no!"........

Hazel, I notice the same thing as your OH. For example, pet shop from which I buy food for my pets, has much larger and better offer online than in shop itself.ย

I'm going to bake second batch of biscuits. My small break last over two hours. See you later.ย

Evening all. Got the cakes delivered safely but it was very slippery underfoot. I have to say I was not won over by the thermal socks as my feet were like blocks of ice after bustling about everywhere. I went across to visit Jack once I got home. He was feeling very cheerful, having had his second cataract operation last Thursday. We watched the end of the Morocco v Portugal match. What a belter! I am getting ready to dip in and out of the BIG match tonight. I bet Hazel and SGL's OHs are glued to their seats.
Ante, sorry for mentioning the snow - not! Happy baking!
Hazel, I have noticed the changes in weight, materials and and quality in smaller garments than coats so I can quite understand what you are saying. I too mourn the loss of our high street favouirites. I really dislike going into town these days as all the major shops have disappeared for one reason or another and I do have to say that I agree with your OH. Sadly, buying online will become the norm.

Busy, what a lucky person you have been today - buying 5 tickets at the bottle tombola and winning 3 nice bottles. it does sound as if you and your OH had a lovely time.
I meant to say that when I was driving out of my road my car's wheels were just spinning in the snow. I didn't think I was going to make getting out onto the Lane. Eventually the wheels got a grip and I was able to edge out onto the main (gritted) road. Tomorrow it could be even more of a problem if the slushy snow freezes. Fingers crossed!

Hello all, been unable to log on for a few days but seems ok now. Hectic few days but I think Christmas can now happen. Going to post my cards tomorrow but not sure when they will be delivered.ย

Hello Debs. Good to see you. I had a similar problem yesterday - every time I tried to sign in it would go through the motions and then I would end up back at the signing in page again. Very frustrating.

LB, be very careful tomorrow if you go rellie visiting....may need to postpone (?) if too icy for driving? If not, focus and ย concentrate and go easy ( lecture over!).... Good that you got your cakes delivered too today but what a shame a thermal socks didn't work.ย
Debs, glad you've managed to get back on line here and that you sound as if you've got everything sorted and ready now for the festivities.
Ante, make the most of the oven warmth whilst you're baking๐Ÿ˜‰ It's bitterly, cold here, -2 at the moment๐Ÿฅถ
Im signing out for now. See you all later.ย
