My doll is coming along nicely ,face and hair is done .I am now working on his clothes .
Good to hear that Rubee. Hope it continues well for OH.p and you're getting along nicely with the boy doll, Can't wait to see him! Ive been watching a very fat robin eating the fatballs Β in the Rowan tree, lovely.
@biglad - sounds like we agree about that incidentπ₯³
We went into town. Exhibition was good, town was fairly busy and I don't need to venture out again until Wednesday.
Maximum day temp reached the heady heights of -2C. The Β fog hasn't lifted at all and it was quite beautiful driving through the countryside. An eerie monchrome landscape with all vegetation outlined by a thick hoar frost.Β
A tad nippy though!

I'm finally finished with baking for my sister. I have plenty of leftovers because it's impossible to pack all of them. It's snowing again, hope I'll not have problems tomorrow with ice.
Good afternoon everyone. Well the Christmas Fayre was wonderful and I have to 'fess up and say that thiswas the first one I have ever been to. I think I have a lot lof catching up to do. The car park was absolutely treacherous so I did my best impression of Pingu tiptoeing over the snowy ruts. We did have about 7 cm of snow so it was a fair covering. There was a wonderful brass band playing in a marquee outside the door to welcome everyone and lots of interesting stalls. I did succumb to temptation and bought a leather necklace with a paua shell pendant on which was attached a silver cat in the moon.
The lady on this stall makes all the jewellery. She collects pieces of polished glass from the seashore and makes them into different forms of jewellery. She also upcycles older pieces of jewellery. It was all very interesting. There were some beautiful things on her stall.
Another stall that had me curious was this one:
Never seen anything like it. You pay your Β£, choose a bottle and if you are lucky it is wine! If not its Adam's Ale

Glad you had a good day LB. Your pendant is very pretty & reminds me of a brooch I'd forgotten about bought it in NZ about 20 years ago. It's silver, in the shape of a yacht Β and I'm sure the sail is paua shell. I'll have to dig it out. I love mother of pearl and paua has that similar irridesence.
Love the Β£1 bottle stall. Must show it to a friend who is responsible for organising some of the village fund raising events. Be nice to have something different. Thank you for the idea.
Hope your snow doesn't turn to horrid frozen slush. It'll be a nightmare for the drivers tomorrow. We have to drive over 3 miles before we reach any roads which are either gritted or cleared of snow. It's why I did a mini SM shop today while we were out.

Before I read all the other posts here is a reply for @Biglad. Yes, you can use soft dark brown sugar to make your cake and it doesn't matter about salted or unsalted. I use that cholesterol reducing (Buttery variant which is suitable for baking) 'stuff' when I make my cakes.
Busy, I hope that your carol singing has gone well this afternoon and that you managed to get all your cards written this morning.
T'Bird, your garden picture is stunning and like the others I am pleased that you have managed to shake off the dreaded cold. This is definitely NOT a time to be feeling unwell.
RedM your dinner sounds very yummy and warming. Great to hear that your community is supporting the food banks. My Bestie and I volunteer at one and we have noticed a drop in donations - which is to be quite understood in these difficult times for some. The local SM is absolutely brilliant though and regularly supplies us with large donations of all kinds of food.
Hazel, knowing what I woke up to this morning, I am pleased to hear that your mum has so far escaped snow and ice. It must be a relief to you too and it was most helpful that your son was able to tell you about the accident and save you what might have been a cold and longer than usual journey.
Ruby, good to read that your OH is getting some benefit from his bandages.
Ante, I could just eat one of your lovely biscuits with my cuppa. I too hope for your sake there is no snow and ice where you are tomorrow. When does your school finish for Christmas? The ones round me finish next Friday.

Gosh, T'Bird that is a distance to travel to get to a decent road. My car struggled to get out of the Crescent this morning and it made the strangest of noises driving over the frozen snow. It did a few little skids and finally the front wheels 'bit' onto the gritted lane and I was off. My neighbours at that end of the Cres have 3 cars - two of which are parked on the road. My worry is that my car will just slip backwards into one or both of them when it is so bad.
I thought that bottle stall was a very clever and simple idea but I wouldn't like to have to wrap up all the bottles!

We have a proper blizzard. Still nothing on the ground which is wet, but next morning could be challenging to go out.Β Β Β
I'll get my pinny on tomorrow
