Oh I'm sorry Ante - I forgot to put down what it meant.Β I guess you did find it? Fingers crossed that the temperature doesn't drop low enough to freeze all that wet stuff otherwise you will have to walk very carefully. We don't want anyone with broken bones so near to Christmas.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Don't worry LB, I found it. How it looks now, tomorrow morning we will have problems with snow, and maybe ice. Long time I didn't see blizzard on the coast.Β
Meant to say - Ante - biscuits / macarons / baking - yum yum yum. Lucky sister!
Biglad - Muscavado sugar does have an especially deep treacly taste - but (as LB said) I wouldn't lose any sleep over your substitutions. To be honest - I'd be over the moon if my OH just tried to make a Christmas cake or pudding. He does cook - but not Christmas 'stuff'. On principle - very 'Bah Humbug'
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
I had a shock this afternoon .A friend that I have known for over thirty years rang me Β .She has been been in hospital. A week ago she was found unconscious in a car park( she stopped driving several months ago ) .She has no memory of who found her and rang for an ambulance. She doesnβt remember going to hospital . She had a bump on her head and was bleeding from her nose . After several scans and tests they found she had a small bleed on her brain . She went home on Friday and has a carer coming in every morning . She still has no memory of why she was in the car park or of the people who found her or going into hospital .Her speech is a little slurred , she is coping with help . My friend is 88 . I hope and pray she makes a full recovery .She was such a vibrant busy person . I am so concerned for her .Sorry if this upsets folks I needed to speak about Β it .Β I will say good night .
I'm sorry to hear about your friend @Rubee, a horrid shock indeed, for her and for you. I wonder if someone hit her in their car and drove off. Something like that happened to an elderly friend of mine. She drove into her gatepost and didn't remember anything. She had several small memory losses after that. She was in her late 80s, died in her mid 90s, but she had to give up driving. She moved into a flat in town.
I enjoyed the Carol Service but it was much smaller than usual and no party with mulled wine afterwards. I gave and received Christmas cards, saved on postage. Nice to see people I haven't seen since I moved here.
Son 1 rang this evening with Christmas present requests for their 3 small daughters. I will have to go back to the big town again.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Rubee, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend, what a shock. Don't be worrying about posting about such things, sometimes it helps to share and Β helps to lift the immediate burden. Β I wonder if she had a transient Ischemic attack ( TIA)? Poor soul, I'll be hoping for the best for her, try not to over worry yourself. Β I hope the Carer can really assist your friend and hoping she recovers well.Β Some lovely pictures tonight of home baking and outside scenes and catty Β ( see what I did there?!) jokes. LB, I have been meaning to ask for a while ( blame my memory) about how Jack is following Β his recent loss? Has he comes to terms with it, bless him? PS be careful tomorrow in the snow if you have to go out. Busy, glad you enjoyed the Carol Service, but what a shame there were no after performance refreshments available.Β Signing out for tonight. Night all, try and get some rest everyone who is worrying.
