..looks like it @Mr. Vine Eye ..thanks.. I can't say I ever pay them much attention but just picked it up on a photo I took.. saying that, the head looks a bit different.. ?..
@e@Eustace yeah, not something that bothers me at all, whatever it is, just curious...
I will second the burncoose recommendation, brought some replacement leptospernum from them and the most wonderful healthy plants arrived, great price too.
Ive been out tidying the garden today, clearing thorny bits of pruning and the hellebore leaves.
Love clematis Piluu @PeterAberdeen. Mine has done pretty well despite all the weather that's been thrown at it in my windy garden. But the leaves went a bit insipid/yellowy last summer so I'm going to fertilise it really well per @Marlorena's advice this spring.
Seeing all the pictures and recommendations on the Piilu Clematis - I am feeling a wee bit smug at choosing it. Pride before a fall &c, so I better return to my usual pessimistic self on a resting heart rate.
Today went well before a total deluge of rain, but the white Lilac stump is now out!!! That is the last remaining removal from the new bed. Still to deep double dig round where it came from to get out the remaining roots that I can. Then I will be on vigil for any regrowth from roots that I have missed.
Again, another infestation of Spanish Bluebells from under the Lilac - does anyone else notice that colonies of them build up underground under big stones, roots etc. I'm now riddling the soil to try and get as many out as I can.
On the home straight and I am getting ready for the planting. Two Peony Candy Stripes went in today and they were showing little pink plump buds. Also got an email from Taylors saying my Piilu are being sent on Monday - so that is a quick turnaround. I'll just need to make sure I follow all your advice on the planting.
Not sure if already flagged but Trevor White has a big sale of bare root climbers and ramblers, 15% off, so some only £12. Some great ones on the list, including peach melba the rose of the year. Violette looks lovely, purpley - anyone have it?
I’m trying not to order too much online because I’ve realised I just love going to the garden centre to buy plants 🤣 I find it much more enjoyable than buying online.
I did buy a couple of dahlias and bareroot perennials as my dahlias have all perished!
@WhereAreMySecateurs ... that's not enough, you have a long way to go yet to catch me up..
I've ordered a Myrcia var. paraguayensis, which is a type of Myrtle, and a Ceanothus 'Marie Simon' which I've been wanting for years.. plus a Helianthemum to make up the delivery.. I got this gorgeous Pittosporum 'Garnettii' this week.. plus a 'Silver Queen'..
..might as well add my clematis order ... 'Wesselton' and 'Propertius' which are macropetalas... 'Walenburg' which is a viticella, and I'm hoping to get 'Mandshurica'..

I've just done another order with Burncoose, so that's me done, I'm out ! ..
I have ordered about ten dahlias and some geraniums-- but no roses this month! Where's my medal?🥇
