wet, snowy and cold... that would be the theme for next 2 days as well..
for a white, my suggestion would be Artemis, Desdemona.. Desdemona for flowering and scent.. Artemis purely for flower power.. It takes a break and blooms in flushes where as Desdemona is more or less continuous..
Talking about the colour theme, Should we start a colour series for roses...? and mention about the special characteristics/ issues we had with them.. My whites/creams are.. Desdemona- no introductions needed.. blooms would be smaller in hot summers, but almost always in bloom for me..
Artemis (Sweet Child of mine).. lots of blooms and then takes a break.. scent would be mild- medium, Myrrh.. probably the only mild scented which I have kept for the second year.. purely because I know how much it can perform.. (hoping things don't get screwed this year with bugs and weather)
Emily Bronte.. flat, large blooms.. I feel it is not the best for flowering.. but grows tall, upright.. behaves more like a floribunda than a typical Austin..
@Marlorena you have a wonderful talent for knowing exactly the right rose, that looks perfect! I was looking at mme. hardy but boule de neige is much more suitable!!!
@WAMS thank you! Ferdinand pichard is lovely isn’t it, I’d not long planted it when we moved house so I didn’t get to enjoy it in it’s full glory I thought it would mirror the VdB on the other side of the border too
also I checked, the delphiniums I bought from the GC flowered in June, the ones from seed flowered late July and August!
While searching for 'Boule de Neige' after recommendations from Marlorena and WAMS I came across this site https://www.englishroses.co.uk/docs/delivery/ Interestingly the price for next day delivery service is similar to what most others offer for 2-3 days service..
@cooldoc I love your idea of doing a colour theme post!! Thank you for the recommendations, I will need more when I eventually do the front (hopefully next year!)
I’ve ordered boule de neige, damn I got so close to finishing bareroot season with no new roses 🤣

Thank you!! Hopefully get some pretty blue spires late summer then!
You won't regret Boule de Neige. It's like a perfect meringue. @Cooldoc it does get pink spots in the rain but otherwise holds up well to the weathers.
@cooldoc, yes there are apparently two DA catalogues, a larger perhaps more attractive offering and the same thing in a smaller A5? format. No idea why. If you'd like it, just PM me with your address.
@Lizzie27 thank you for the offer.. I just finished going through the one I got.. not sure what size it is.. But it had a strong smell of ?kerosene/ petrol.. not exactly the pleasant smell we get when opening a new book...
@WAMS I..... ummm... nope.. I should not... stop tempting.... just spend 25 for another waiting list rose... which I don't know where to pot up.. BdN will have to take its place in the waiting list for now.. will enjoy yours and zugenie's pics for now...
I was about to post the pics of my snow filled pots.. and then Pitter-patter comes and posts a pic.. its so beautiful even without the roses... mine looks like trash next to that
hopefully will see more pics by tomorrow on the white theme.. then may be yellow or pale pinks..? progressing to darker shades.. something to see us through in this cold weather... wonder what will happen to all the new growth in this weather

Love the colour-theme idea too.

Themes are good.. you have a fine selection of whites @cooldoc .. I enjoyed the scent on 'Artemis' very much.. so if we're doing whites..
I wasn't sure I liked 'Champagne Moment' but came round to it late in the year..
