@Discandied ..oh thanks so much, interesting choices .. I was wanting a few for my greenhouse, so I'm going to take another look.. they have such a good selection that we can no longer get here.. Really looking forward to seeing those bloom for you next Spring..
I like the look of all those 4 actually, maybe Duc de Cazes the best?..
@WhereAreMySecateurs Well, those are nice.. what you could do is insert a temp bamboo cane close to that shoot and tie it, so it's away from the other one if that's possible, and remove the cane later, when it starts to grow away.. If it's rubbing and too stiff to move, I would just prune it back to where it isn't rubbing..
@WhereAreMySecateurs, Regarding the canes jammed together. I had the same problem in a newly planted rose. I am trying to get them to grow apart by inserting a bamboo cane between them and gently lean one cane away. Leave it like that for a few months and then increase the angle. After another few months, you should be able to take the bamboo cane out, hopefully the branches will now stay apart by themselves. If not, re-insert the canes and leave them for another interval.
Time will tell if it works although I don't know if this is the correct method. Perhaps others will advise.
@WhereAreMySecateurs lol, I can see a black market of MW cuttings surreptitiously developing.
I love Roses Loubert and can browse their catalogue for hours, they have so many rare and fascinating old roses. The two previous orders I’ve had from them have been bare roots of a similar size @Discandied but all have established well and quickly. My next order from them is on it’s way, just as well as I was seriously tempted to add two more.
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
@WhereAreMySecateurs Well, virtually all their inventory could be described as ''rare and unusual'' but you know British gardeners of earlier times would have had access to most of these, but they will not have stood the test of time, so have long since disappeared from commerce for us here..
I currently have 6 in my basket, which is much too much for me now, I can only manage maybe 2 or 3 in small pots, so I have to think on that.. there is one in particular I especially want... the other 'Azelie Imbert' is sold out..
@Discandied I too loved that Duc de Cazes.. best part is its very fragrant as per the site.. will see how they perform for you..
I told myself that I really should not be posting in forums or be out planting atleast till 1st week of Jan.. But rose temptations are hard to resist.. ended up doing some garden work eventually.. emptied pots and planted around 8 roses in the ground, those which were not to my liking.. including Celine Forrestier.. shame, as I really loved her bloom form and colour.. I could definitely smell tea but only slightly.. (I know some need time to develop their scent) Others that went to the ground; Rachel, Double delight, Odelia, Rose de molinard, One in a million, Lily (Pheno geno), Thanks a million
Now the good reviews and special recommendation by Nollie and others made me go for Rose de Rescht..
My TCL order came in few days ago.. had placed my first order by end of July, then kept adding/ deleting till September..
