We've been watching the funeral. Couldn't help crying again when it started. I find bagpipe music very moving. I did some sewing repairs during the processions, but not during the service.

I hope you have a lovely holiday @chicky.

I didn’t envy the Queen much (well, the horses perhaps) …. but my life would’ve definitely been improved had I been woken by a bagpiper playing outside my bedroom window every morning ❤️
If I were Queen I'd have had to sack the piper at the very least. Is the monarch allowed to shoot folk?

Have a lovely time in Crete @chicky

Whether you value the monarchy or not, the amount of history and ceremony that today brought was wonderful.

Bagpipes, however, can divide a room.

I must say that the two Corgis did melt me a bit. And Charlotte’s little hat.

The floral piece was not what I expected - more personal, seasonal and colourful. Flowers and foliage from her gardens, the colours reflecting the flag and crown I felt. I understand there is some symbolism in some of the plants, like Rosemary and Myrtle.

And clear one in record time. Have you ever been subjected to that noise indoors?
Bagpipes are NOT musical instruments: they're weapons of war.

Hi everyone. Hope everyone's holiday/holiday plans go well.  We've had a what my mum would call 'A day and a half'.
Found out this morning that a friend of Firstborn's had been attacked last night after having her drink spiked at a local club.  Firstborn spent the night in hospital with her as she's a single mum and has no sensible family.  She's OK now but Firstborn has been looking after her son for her.  Then Secondborn called to say that Gabriel was having to go to hospital with his asthma.  She dropped Jonah off at Firstborn's as his dad apparently had 'made plans' for today and wouldn't look after him.  We drove over to Firstborns and helped look after the children.  They have thankfully let Gabriel come home this evening after giving him steroids and getting his oxygen level back up.  Secondborn can take him straight back to the ward if she is worried during the next 48 hours.  Hopefully he will be OK.  Secondborn had messages asking how Gabriel was during the day from her friends and family.  However, his dad didn't feel the need to ask how he was at all.  Needless to say I could strangle him.

    I like bagpipes.

@AuntyRach I thought the wreath was lovely too, flowers from the royal family gardens.

The funeral was perfectly organised, beautiful and moving.

  • I had to have the day off as my customers wanted to watch the send off.

I listened to it on the radio while I made the most of a rare day off.  It brought back memories of @Dovefromanove singing in the local church choir, I could actually hear her harmonizing! It was a lovely memory that was right back in the room with me as I built a single bed I got from gumtree, collected a mint mattress from Freecycle.... assembled and cosy before lunch time. Tidied the garden, gave the old mattress to the couple next door for their daughter, currently 3 of them living in one room..... Now made a chicken and veg pie from leftover roast and am about to finally sit down for the day.... Now to slow down ......
@Yviestevie... Your instincts to strangle are correct and true..... I'll be your alibi should the time come and you should need it 😉

That really was a day and a half @Yviestevie.  Hope Firstborn's friend and Gabriel recover well.
    I quite like the bagpipes.
Didn't do any gardening in the end - watched it all instead.  Did anyone see the Guard who fainted?  My cousin was a Guard and he told me that if they faint they get put in clink.
Couldn't watch it all again this evening so we went to Dave.  Nice not to have actual adverts but wouldn't mind not hearing that Elgar piece again for a while.

Morning all. Washing day today it seems. Blue sky and no clouds. Our builder is elsewhere today while he waits for the flooring material to arrive.  I’m just as pleased to be able to get on with other things while the place is quiet. 😁

    Have a good one. 👏👏

  • Morning all,

Chilly start here so I have taken breakfast in bed, but I have dealt with lots of e-mails, so not entirely lazy. I must say I am quite enjoying not having to do the school run five mornings a week. It may be early on Monday (6:30) but at least that's it.

Very disappointed to have been invited to the opera in Limoges by my bank as a VIP guest and can't go because I am in Corfu. Obviously, I would rather be in Corfu, but a shame it wasn't the week after. It did cross my mind however, they must be charging me an awful lot to be deemed a VIP......

Hope the sun is still shining for @Hostafan1.

Hugs to all concerned in the @Yviestevie family. :(

Very quiet yesterday on here, I presume everyone watching the TV, they did a very good job of it in my opinion, certainly something that won't be forgotten. Many of our French customers were very impressed and it was certainly given lots of air time here too.

Anyway, enough lolling about, a chicken tikka to get made in time for lunch.

    Good day to all. :)
