I think you have got the 'calling' @Biglad! Looking forward to seeing you as a competitor on One Man Minus Dog.
Great stuff Debs. Those little violas will be a joy to see on the grey winter/spring mornings.
I am signing out for now. Just had a text from sis. She has heard from the people we are flying with advising us to get to Manchester Airport 3 hours early. I thought that this travel chaos had been sorted - apparently not. This means an even earlier start from here so I won't be seeing you all in the morning. I'll have to play it off the cuff to see what the WiFi is like where we are but if I can get in touch I will. I am getting ready for the weekly brain exercise soΒ I am signing out for now. Enjoy your evenings and be good! I'm not altogether sure those two are compatible!
p.s. Ante, I hope that you have survived the day!
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
We had rather a traumatic morning. Had a phone call from a woman at the hospital that OH will be going to for his hip replacement. She said his op would be in a year's time π° We were horrified, surgeon had said January. She said OH was a new patient, we said he's been waiting 3 years. She rang back later to say she had spoken to the surgeon and it will be January. That's long enough having already waited so long.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Gorgeous cat @Rubee he looks exotic. Cold morning here but dry. Got to try to finish clearing back room today, I have some boxes of ornaments that were moms, nothing precious or really sentimental but they need to be sorted for charity shop.Β
Morning all. Very cold in Tewkesbury first thing - touch of frost on the car windscreens at 7am - brrr. Looks like it's going to be a perfect autumn day now Β - bright sun, no wind and lots of trees changing colour.
Had a lovely day in Hereford yesterday. The cathedral is one of the most interesting I've visited and the Mappa Mundi / chained library museum really lived up to expectations. It was wonderful to see the original 700 year old map (the largest of it's kind still in existence) on display and the explanatory supporting exhibits were excellent.Β
I love all the depictions of mythical beasts like skiarapods and dragons. My favourite is the Blemmyes - a headless man with eyes and mouth in his chest.Β
Today, OH is flying again all day while I head into Gloucester.
LB - if you get the chance to look in I hope you have a wonderful, well deserved holiday. Hope you're able to update us with details of your wanderings in France.
Rubee - Bruno is a sweetie. He's got long legs hasn't he???
@Busy-Lizzie - so sorry to hear you had that disturbing phone call yesterday. I'm glad they 'checked' and confirmed that things should go ahead in January - but it doesn't give you much confidence in 'the system' does it? How on earth did they have C down as a 'new patient'? Which records are they using for goodness sake? I do hope it's the last major hiccup for you both.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Well I am finally posh! I now have summer curtains and winter curtains!Β
I donβt usually like heavy curtains so took down the thick brocade set in the dining room and replaced with voile but have now washed the brocade set ready to re hang. They will do a better job of keeping out draughts and make the room warmer. They have been in a storage bag for 3 years but have washed well and are on the line.Β

Thank you @Topbird. I hope you have a good day in Gloucester.
Once the washing is on the line we are heading off to the SM.
