  • Morning @debs64 glad you're enjoying your holiday. Not sure how far it is from where you are, but when we were there years ago, we visited Mother Skiptons Caves.
Hope the weather stays nice for you.
Thank you @Ladybird4 OH is starting to feel better, but he's been feeling poorly awhile now.
Hope Al is still able to bring things through the tunnel 🍰😉

    Morning morning all.
@star gaze lily, sorry to hear that OH is still not well. Hope all goes well with the x ray, sending positive thoughts and hugs your way.
LB, you are certainly busy these days, can I reserve a slice of cake too please? And a happy birthday to Jack for tomorrow, good age and hope he has a grand day.
Havent been up long but need another cuppa so catch you all later.

    Morning all.

I hope OH's X Ray is ok, @star gaze lily and that he will be on the mend soon.

Grey and chilly in West Dordogne. My cottage was a bit chilly last night. I lit the wood burning stove.

This morning I'm going on a 5km walk in aid of Alzheimer's with a group of friends from church. We are all getting on a bit and some have problems, backs, knees etc. There is an OH with a car at the ready to pick anyone up. We'll end up at a friend's house for a light lunch. I hope my knee is OK, it's been getting better the last couple of days. I think it's worse if I sit down too much.

I was glad to find that CB has looked after the garden, nothing has died in the drought, but the raspberries and the lilac are a bit unhappy. He's cut the hedge and strimmered the rough bits. The lawn looks very unhappy. The forecast is for rain next week.

Here is the Jewel Bed, needs dead heading, but not bad after 5 weeks away.

Lily I hope your OH gets the right treatment after the exray has been looked at .
Debs our Dales are wonderful . Have a good day .LB take time for a cuppa . Busy take care on your walk . Have a lovely time .We are waiting for the nurse to come to do the Doppler test . The nurses are so pushed for time we don’t know which one will be turning up each day .They are having to use bank nurses frequently. I feel so sorry for them .Hazel enjoy our day.

Hello all. Just been to SM after dropping OH at the dentist.

One of his molar cusps broke off earlier this week and the dentist has put a bit of a cap over the exposed side of the tooth. Very straightforward and he was in for less than 15 mins - and that'll be £200 thank you😬

No NHS dentists at all around here, so I think we're going to have to seriously consider a dental insurance plan. I had a single root canal treatment about 5 or 6 years ago and it was well over £400 then. A simple check up is about £75. No wonder some people are taking desperate measures to 'treat' their own dental problems.

BL - Your border is looking great despite your absence. Won't take long to tidy it up. Your French grass, however, looks like my English grass - still lots of brown and grey areas. Thinking I might need to reseed some areas.

SGL - hope everything goes ok with your OH's X-Ray. Fingers crossed nothing nasty shows up.

Rubee - fingers crossed the nurse turns up soon.

LB - You'll need to make (yet another!) cake with all those slices reserved for your Rezzer friends. Happy birthday to Jack for tomorrow.

@debs64 - enjoy the Dales. I love that part of the world. Strongly recommend Keelham Farm Shop in Skipton and Blackerhall Farm Shop near Wakefield for both lunch and food shopping if you're in the area. The new(ish) Hepworth Garden in Wakefield also looks worth a (free) visit. The inside gallery was free to visit when we went but it looks as though they charge admission now - good and interesting stuff though and you've gotta love a bit of Barbara Hepworth....

I expect you know that my son is a dentist in France. The French have an insurance system that can cover dentistry, the amount the French NHS don't reimburse. I don't think English insurance has got to the same stage, too used to NHS paying for everything. Anyway, son says that when people moan about the expense they often don't realise the huge overheads that help to make up the price. Dental equipment is very expensive, there are the staff to pay, dental nurses, receptionist, secretary, accountant. Crowns, implants etc are expensive as the materials used are pricey and the technicians who make them have to be paid. Son owns his surgery, bought the freehold, mortgage to pay, council taxes, heating, electricity. He has X Ray equipment, expensive loan to pay off. If the NHS can't afford it then another way to ease the expense must be looked for, as in France.

I had a lovely walk, knee held out. I enjoyed lunch at friend's house with the other walkers and several dogs who came too. Dogs had their own lunch, not ours!

I'll make sure Al is muzzled before I send him down the tunnel with the cake for all the Rezzers!
Good afternoon all. It turned out quite nice for a short while today. Got my lenses sorted but was sorry to see that - like my Dentist - the gentleman who has looked after my eyes for years has decided that retirement was the answer when the lockdowns started. I am more than happy with my new contact lens specialist though. Got the cake finished:
I'll pop it across later and have a cup of tea with him. I've decided to give it to him a day early because tomorrow will be quite hectic with the surprise party organisation helping Bestie.
Busy, the jewel bed looks very pretty and I'm sure once you get some good rainfall things will start to recover and rally. Good to hear that your knee held out on your walk and having lost my Mum to Alzheimers I say well done to you and your friends for such a worthy cause to walk for
T'Bird, I haven't even found a Dentist yet who will take me on. I haven't been reduced to some of the horrific self dentistry I've heard about and seen images of on TV thank goodness.

  • Thank you everyone. Very kind.
There's no NHS dentist around here either.  A routine check up is £85
@Ladybird4 Cake looks yummy. Looking forward to Al arriving with my slice 😋😉
Jewel bed looks beautiful @Busy-Lizzie lovely colours.
@Rubee hope OH is feeling a bit more comfortable today.

    Evening all.
That looks a nice chocolate cake LB, wouldn’t last ten mins in this house.
SGL, how did OH get on with x ray? Will he have to wait long for the results? Hope all’s well.
Popped into town this morning, it was really busy but we managed to top up the larder with missing foodstuff from yesterday and filled the car up with cut price petrol, £1.59.9, bargain🤙
Haven’t done too much this afternoon as tired. oH cut the lawn, the patches I’ve been doing lately are all filling up nicely with lovely lush, green new grass and overall is looking the best it’s looked for years now.
Dyed my hair this afternoon- it’s the same stuff as I always use so why is it so much darker this time round? Too dark really so it will be getting plenty of washes over the next few weeks to dilute the dye down.
