It sounds a good and interesting holiday @Topbird.
It's been a good day.
I enjoyed the GC, they had a new delivery in. It's a small GC but they always seem to have everything. 24 pansies and violas, a liriope and a dwarf purple aster jumped into my trolley. They also had a big outdoor thermometer and some green jute twine that I wanted. I planted everything except the aster this afternoon.
While we were there OH had a call from his GP's secretary who had been chasing up the hospital. When we got home OH had an email inviting him to an appointment to see the surgeon at the NHS hospital in early October.
I have a couple of things to see to in France so I'm going back for 10 days on 22nd September. I will also be babysitting for Son 2 for a night while I'm there. My handyman says my house and garden are OK, he's gone there before work and done some watering.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
LB - the factory we visited today (Cathargo) will (eventually) be building the campervan we specced up and ordered back in March / April. There is such a shortage of vans that there is usually at least a year's delay between ordering and taking delivery. Some manufacturers are now quoting nearly a two year wait!
Hymer (pronounced Hoomer over here) is another manufacturer of premium brand motorhomes and caravans. We've never had a Hymer but we know several people who wouldn't buy any other make.
I'm expecting the museum to be a collection of vehicles from the early horse drawn caravans through the earliest motorised caravans to the modern vans they produce now.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Still raining, but the storms have passed. @Topbird glad you're enjoying your holiday. How is OH wrist. Are you thinking of buying a new motorhome? @Busy-Lizzie glad OH has heard from the hospital. Do hope everything gets sorted this time and no more delays. Sounds like lots of lovely things jumped into your basket. I've been looking for a garden thermometer for ages, can't see one I like. Saying good night too, sleep well everyone.
I hope you all had a decent night. Here is sunny but chilly morning. Yes, you read it correctly, chilly morning. 😂 Neighbour from cottage sent me message and said that up in the hills is only 7℃ this morning. Such a shock for plants and us. It will all settle in next few days. It's time for tea and school. One more day and it's weekend.
Good morning all. @Ante1i did make jam fiancé insisted we remove all the seeds which I don’t mind but he hates so it’s like doughnut jam but very tasty. We have to have further investigation into the leak so that’s a nuisance but needs must. Glad your weather is improved it’s definitely cooler here hoping for rain today.
@Topbird your trip sounds idyllic especially the 🐈⬛ kittens.
Meal last night was a success and I have a few hours this morning to potter in the garden before work, I may harvest the elderberries to make elderberry vodka then nanny duty for my 12 year old granddaughter and a hectic weekend at a wedding in Bedfordshire.
Morning @Ante1 and all to follow. That sounds quite chilly this morning, such a drop in temperature after all your hot weather. It's been pouring here all night, just a slight drizzle now, but everything looks drenched. Some plants look very battered and the flowers are hanging over. Starting to look very autumnal outside. Completely different from the beginning of the week. Do hope we get some more sunny days during September. I'm not ready for autumn and the long dark days yet. OH has physio today, hope the weather perks up. I'll join you in a cup of tea @Ante1 Have a good day at School.
Oops morning @debs64 you weren't there just now. Jam sounds yummy, hope it didn't take too long to remove the pips. A lovely day ahead for you with your granddaughter. The Elderberry vodka sounds good, 🤪 is it easy to make. Hope the weather is kind for the wedding tomorrow.
Good morning to you, Ante, and Debs and our later arrivals.
Busy, that sounds very optimistic for your OH. Got everything crossed here the October consultation goes ahead without any hiccups. Your next trip to France will fit in nicely with the time scale. You sound to have had a super time at the GC with lots of nice purchases and well done for getting all the plants put in place in your garden. It must have been very reassuring too, to hear that all is fine in France.
T'Bird, that should be a very interesting visit for you both. I remember going to visit the 'Cars of the Stars' museum in Keswick years ago whilst it was still open and loving every single vehicle there - the Batmobile was something else! Its great that you have been able to 'design' your own motor and watching the evolution of vans at that museum will be special.
Ante, brrrrrr, 7°C is very cold after the temperatures you have had to put up with this Summer. Poor plants!
Debs I do hope that whatever is causing the marking on your ceiling is nothing too major and it is sorted soon. Enjoy the company of your granddaughter today and the wedding arrangements for the weekend.
I am off out today with the Quizzers for another pub lunch.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
I was so very saddened to hear about the passing of Bill Turnbull who for many years was my 'morning man' bringing the serious and the lighthearted stories to me on the Beeb. When he was first diagnosed with his cancer and had to withdraw from his newsreading job, I missed him very much. He and his family will be in my thoughts.

Good morning SGL, you snuckered in there. I'm pleased to hear that your garden has had a drenching and it will save you having to do any watering. Hope your OH's physio goes well today. I'll join you and Ante in another tea.
